Sorry, no pics yet. Will post some within the week.
Is a 04 VYII HSV Avalanche. Mods are: Harrop HH112 Intercooled blower with 11psi pulley (bigger injectors & fuel pump), VCM performance CAI, COMP cam package, rebuilt trans, twin 2.5" S/S De Filippo exhaust & 4 into 1 De Filippo headers, 2500 (loose) Dominator Convertor, 20" chromies, stainless steel braided brake lines.............other mods, but can't remember them all.
Dyno sheet: 460kw @ the engine, 335kw @ all 4 wheels & 1450Nm torque at all 4 wheels! Let me know if you have heard of a similar ride or like the sound of my ride. Cheers!

Closest thing i can think of is NickS coupe 4 which ran 10's almost straight up (3rd run) and got kicked out on factory tyres, i think they were 20's, this was stoked and a single turbo. That is currently the quickest street tyres commodore platform car AFAIK.
Steve "450KWadventurer" (I think thats his user name) also had an 4WD supercharged adventurer with big power..
You going to take your car to the strip to get an idea where it lines up?

Have you had this on a 4WD dyno?? if that figure is correct (335 kW @ all 4 wheels & 1450Nm torque) then you have allot more than 460 kW at the flywheel. These cars loose shit loads to the wheels. I had just over 500 at the flywheel which gave just over 300 at the wheels, then they go like this on a skid pan (first 3 videos up on the left)

Be interesting to see your pictures
A little tip... make sure you have you 1st / 2nd gear band changing very firm, that's the first to go, I destroyed 4 x 4L60e's in the first 10,000 klms, all good now though :)
Cheers

200kw is a huge loss:confused: I assume some of that would be from the Auto transmission and the rest from the AWD system. How much % power would an AWD system chew up. Just curious...I have a Subaru with with 210 atw, interesting to know what the power at flywheel would be.
I would assume that AWD systems would vary in efficiency as well?

Hi Steve.
First of all, my apologies. I just looked at the dyno sheet & i actually have 321.7kw at the wheels. I was abit generous with my kw's without checking the dyno sheet :( But it does say 458kw at the engine with the torque being the same as i mentioned earlier, 1450Nm. I'm still trying to work my way around this site & suss out how to post pics etc. Hopefully i'll get some up this weekend. Cheers,
Howie.

Funny you mention the twin turbo Skyline. I pulled away from a Modified Godzilla Twin Turbo Skyline up hill on a passing lane. Not by much, but i pulled away. He wasn't happy :)

The harrop blower sounds great, I'm envious/jealous, I bet you guys have fun in the wet, as do I as nothing can hook up like us - I've left many a vehicle standiing still in the pooring rain - woohoo. I've got one lowered with 20 x 10's and nearly 13" 30 series tyres, HSV brakes, intake, extractors and full exhaust, cam, manifold, tune, rods, valve springs and rollers, about 330fwkw and have been considering the blower option for a while. Only turn off as mentioned is the auto weakness, not sure I want to blow the 5k + to upgrade to the bigger one although it's the way to go judging by your experience Mr 450KWad.
A friend has some TT he's not using so I'm considering throwing them on for something different, just de-tuning them for somewhere around 400fwkw initially to save the auto. I'll post the results if/when I proceed. Until then enjoy the rides guys, cant recall how many times I've had mine fully loaded moving or with building materials and thought there's just no way this stuff would fit in a HSV or calais (sedan)... and no VY/VZ that can take 13" tyres without expensive mods... adventura's are the best car holden ever stopped making imo.. and I think they used them as a prototype for the VE as the new one incorporates the flared guards and wider wheel track.
How do you find the stally? Still driveable in heavy traffic at low speed without any auto overheating issues? How do you find the fuel economy with it? What about hwy cruising under 2500rpm... any issues if say doing 2000km trip in hot weather or does it only stall up when you plant the foot and drive normally at all other times?? cheers
Hazeyboy - you should fit some coil overs in the front, mine are height and rebound adjustable (40 settings from fairly soft HSV to full race and everything in between) they really stiffen up the front end and are great for high speed country runs, the back is easily lowered by resetting the level ride arm...

Hey mate. Yeah, the Dominator convertor is ok. It never overheats in slow traffic, but i have fitted a Pwr Transmission cooler. It goes good, but i dont like it too much when it's under 2500rpm going up hills coz it sounds like it's revving & going no where. But in saying that, i like it when i'm at the lights next to a Porsche Cayenne Turbo or another high kw European car or SUV. They look at me like "dont even try it HSV". Needless to say, i hit the gas & my wife waves bye bye to them! Haha.
It drives normal (other then the revving under 2500 rpm) & kicks in when i nail it. Overall, with all the torque from the blower, i'd prefer not to have the convertor, but i cant find a normal convertor to put back in. They all cost a arm & a leg! Way more then the 2500 Convertor i've got in it.
I couldn't help ya in the 2000km journey as that would nearly take me from the top of NZ, down to the bottom! Haha. And my car never travels that far. :) Sorry mate.
If you can give me more info on the coil overs & lowering of the rear, that would be cool. Suspension is not my area & after nearly losing it with body roll/swaying at about 130+ cornering, i'm keen to firm up the suspension.
Thanks mate. Regards Howie.

Hey fellas, fantastic avalanche Howie (Hazeyboy94) I cant beleive how great that blower looks and sounds and the power i is making is very impressive.
but i have 1 question for you and any of the other guys that are making big power with there adventra/avalanches (450kwadventra, warlobo).
How many Ks do you guys cover in a year say for example?
How hard do you drive them?
Do you have trouble with any of the other driveline items except the auto?
And how many Ks do you have on the odometer?
its just im tying to sus out abit wether i will be able to afford compared to a normal rwd, to get it moving faster

Cheers mate! I still have to modify the exhaust again & find a OTR CAI to fit & hopefully that will bump the numbers up abit. Looking at maybe some heads & bigger cam in the future & lowering it. If the rebuilt trans could handle, i was going to stroke it to a 383. Will update my thread when i've put other mods on. Cheers.

Hey mate. My HSV only does under 10,000km over a year, if that. I have a everyday car, so it only gets pulled out on the weekend & on runs.
I normally drive it moderately until someone wants a go at the lights, but i do give it death at least once or twice a week :)
I dont have trouble with the auto as it has been rebuilt to handle the power. I have 70,000km on the clock. I have Red Line & Royal Purple all through the car to help with cooling & wear & a PWR transmission cooler fitted as well.
I think it would be cheaper to get a RWD faster. AWD are heavy, but good take off. It's nice to have a manual as it's much cheaper to get a heavy duty clutch then to rebuild a trans! Hope that helps. All the best with your project! Regards Howie.

The blower looks and sounds killa mate.Too scared of A4s now and will probably just put a baby cam and nice exhaust in mine ,goes pretty good for what it is. Converted the ute to M6 and luvin it would be way too hard in the AVO I would think.

About $6500 d.i.d.o. depending on how much ya get your box for and whether ya go Tex clutch, getting harder to find cheap as new boxes e.g.$3000+

What's the M6 like in the XUV? I was told i couldn't convert the Avalanche to a manual. If i could, that would be MEAN!! But pricey I'm sure.
That's one thing i miss about living in Aussie.....all the performance shops there. You have a few in NZ, but not the selection like Oz.
If i could put a manual in my Avalanche, I'd have to stroke the engine, as i don't think the trans could handle that much of a increase in torque. The joys of a manual........:)
I actually had a mild cam & exhaust with a OTR CAI & mafless tune when the car was in Aussie, but it killed the trans. That's why i had it rebuilt with enough kick in it, to handle a blower. Now it runs sweet as!
All the best with your ride mate. It's good to hear from others who own a Avalanche.
Cheers, Howie.

Hey Brenten. Your Adventra looks MEAN AS!!! I'm envious! I want to lower mine like yours. Being lowered makes them look real tuff! The rims & tyres look real good too. It is really clean looking....you obviously look after her well. Any tips on the suspension? That's not my forte, so i'm keen on any advice. I like the OTR CAI on it. I'm actually looking for one to fit on mine. Dus cant help me at the moment either..............:bawl:

thanks Howie, Thanks im happy with it:) all i did was get a set of King Spring FE2 equivelent front springs and king spring wagon Super lows heavy duties and that is it I have kept the level ride suspension just moved the bracket to make it work and in the front I kept the existing shock absorbers but you can change to sedan shocks which will work a little better. yours would look unreal if it was lowered :)
Dus has done an OTR for a supercharger before but obviously he would need the car in person to do it if you were handy with fiberglass you could get a normal OTR off him and rework it to suite............ or if you knew someone that was good at it....

Hey mate. I pretty much got the trans rebuilt. After i put the cam in & thrashed it a bit, the trans lost 3rd & 4th gear. Dyno figures here goes! I have sheets to show the runs.
dyno run, cam, heads stock intake 231kw,720nm both on the same mainline awd dyno.
supercharger dyno 270kw,810nm @3.5psi. We had major belt slip issues. We drove on the road 10psi, put back on the dyno 3 to 4 psi. So here it is, we picked up 40kw with 3.5psi. that leaves another 6psi. Im not going to print my guess! any body game.

I have about 60k clocked up on this one, lots of hwy kms, plenty of i/state travels, but use around town as second car too, drive it hard at times (always when warmed etc) never had a driveline issue (on my second one first VY did 100km very hard also @ low 300kw) towed 2 tonnes interestate and couldn't be happier. Been able to set some great record times over long distance when the time was right..
One advantage I've definately noticed is lowered 2" or so with firm suspension leaves loads of road clearance and lends itself great to high speed runs on less than perfect roads, nil scrapes or bottom out issues even at 200 + no other lowered car I've had could match it on country roads in that area...
Howie... fitted adjustable coil overs on front, (after having tried them in a previous one) similar to teins I think, height adjustable a few inches and lots of variation in rebound stiffness via a dial on top of shock tower... excellent handling and eliminates body roll, with the LX8/HSV the level ride is easily adjusted to any height on the rear, just remove and reset the arm and that stiffens the rear ideally while keeping the level ride active at the new height.
I tried 3" however it lost the ride comfort and took on the "usual lowered vehicle ride" but 2-2.5" keeps factory comfort just minus the body roll, handles to the limit of the tyres now, and you can turn down the AWD too if you want, allowing AWD wheelspin although I'm not sure but that might stress the components more, especially with 600hp +.
I'll fit some TT and let you know the results in a few wks..
Brenton - looks sweet mate..

warlobo, im interested in this turning down the awd traction control how is this possible???? also loosing tracion in most cases reduces stress on drivelines as it is spinning easily instead of loading up the components..... if your response about turning the awd traction control is long feel free to shoot me a PM

Cheers mate! I'll look into some prices for adjustable coil overs. As for the rear, is it easy to adjust it yourself or best to get a qualified person to do it?
I have a few mods to do, so the lowering might be third in line. I'm going to get a bonnet from Savage fibreglass in Aussie & am in the process of designing & getting built a OTR CAI for my Avo to fit the Harrop blower. I'm changing the exhaust from the twin 2.5 into a single 3.5", back to the twin 2.5" De Filippo sitting in the shed. Better flow with the twin 2.5", so a few more numbers without spending any money :)
Thanks again for your sound advice!

Warlobo, can you tell me which brand / model coilovers you used? I'm guessing that Adventra's / Avalanche's don't use a standard Commodore coil over - or do they? Any info here would be great!

Hey guys.. cant recall the s/over brand as I fitted them pre delivery few yrs back now, they were german, quality ones, from JHP in Blackburn in Vic.. I think the tein ones now are the relacement for mine, they're excellent with a seperate oil res can etc.. just good to be so adjustable, I've has the front lower however 20's rub at full lock at a point and the loss of headlight fwd vision distance on country roads make any rake not worth the effort.. also found the whole car looses its unique feel at about 3" lwrd.. 2-2.5" is ideal imo.. (thats for a daily driver, performance wise I'd say 3" is close to ideal)
The rear auto load leveller arm (little blue one on rear rhs chasis from memory) just needs removing and reset slightly lower, then it just bases itself at the new level, can be done at home no prob..
As far as turning down AWD its a plug in with computer via vcm/edit job then just testing and adjusting to your liking on loose gravel etc.. I believe you can disable if you wanted.. just see a decent tuner he'll know all about it..

Couldnt see that there would be that much difference but would probably be easier to get an adventurer for starters and put ya good wagon bits on it.

it'd be a head **** of a job .
Ya'd probably be lookin' at 3 grand for the CX8 to 6 grand for the LX8 change over .
CX and LX8's are cheap at the mo , their thirst scares everyone .
Hey Tona here I have a 300KW avalanche and it pulls 198Kw at the wheels on the dyno so they do loose a bit between engine and wheels

I put the pedeers xa coilovers on front and back on my avalanche no problem just needed some new sway bars. After I went to the pedders store and they said it couldn't be done i went and did it myself.
