Oh, hello there!

Last night a thread I posted was abruptly closed for no apparent reason.

Australian LS1 and Holden Forums (http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=118356)

Now, I did a search, couldn't find what I was looking for, so I asked a question, with a slightly comedic tone to keep in the spirit of forum fun.

Anyway, I'm not disputing the closure. What I wouldn't mind knowing is why the thread was shut so quickly. So perhaps the mods could look at PM'ing a reason for the closure rather than just sending a PM informing us that the thread was closed. Otherwise, we don't actually know what we did wrong! :)

Another small point......Not wanting to get into trouble, I have read the forum terms and conditions very carefully before posting this thread. They state:

Any issues or complaints on any post or threads must not be responded to within the forum threads or posts, but should be addressed by using the provided reported post functionality or by sending an email to The Moderators identifying the post at issue. Or submit your concern via this form Contact Us if you have an Issue

Any issues or complaints in relation to any moderation of threads or posts please contact The Admin for further review.

After reading this it would seem that we actually can dispute moderation of threads in the open forum if we so choose. It doesn't say we can't! There is an option preferred by the mods to discuss this, but it doesn't say that this is the only option. In the paragraph above it says we can't complain about other peoples posts and replies, but doesn't actually say moderation decisions are not to be discussed in the forum. It does say we have to abide by them, but it doesn't say that we cant whinge about them in the forum! Just thought I'd point that out :D

Yes i agree - its no help to anyone if a thread is closed without a reason given.

Morning UT !! I would hazard a guess that it has been covered to death and henceforth it was closed.

FWIW, go and talk to Martin. I'm sure he could advise you. Us keyboard warriors will only give you bad advice to try and lead you astray.

Wasn't there a comprehensive thread from one of the sponsors in the last fortnight covering this exact topic in detail?

While I'm not exactly sure why the thread last night was closed, ( though I think the reasons have been spelt out now ), I do know why this one has been closed. If you have issues with the moderation process, use the "contact us" option at the bottom of the page.

Here's a link from seedyrom....

Just to clarify. Questioning of moderation is NOT permitted in open forum.

Users who do so risk a temporary suspension.

Repeat offenders are subject to permanent ban.

Hope this clears up any ambiguity. :)

Further to that, it was I who closed it down, however, I did not have time to post any reason, due to an incident where I was.

The reason should be obvious - there is a myriad of reading on the forum regarding valvesprings, as well as information available from a shop or sponsor shop/s.

No point in reinventing the wheel and running a thread that is almost academic in content, nor is there any reason for a funds approved thread on such a widely discussed topic.

I'm sure that you could be given plenty of advice re valvesprings when you visit Chev's shop on Saturday UT.

Just to expand on something that the other guys here missed (Bloody newbie moderators :stick: ), we dont personally send out a PM when we close a thread. We also cannot send a PM as "moderators". All the ones from Moderators are automated messages from the Forum Software that get sent automatically when you do something, ie close a thread.

ONLY when it comes to deleting a post/thread is there actually an opportunity for us (Moderation team) to input a "reason" which then ends up on the PM from "Moderators"

In short, Anything from Moderators is a automated message and not a message typed out on the spot from a specific moderator. If you have questions surround THIS PROCESS ONLY feel free to start a thread in the Forum Help & Feedback section and we will do our best to answer the questions for you.

Well tone, it says:

Any issues or complaints in relation to any moderation of threads or posts please contact The Admin (http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/sendmessage.php) for further review.

This paragraph tells you exactly what to do if you have an issue with moderation. It doesn't have "... or create a thread about it on the open forum if you want. It's up to you really" on the end of it. You can do what it says and nothing more.

It then says:

Breach of any of rules, regulations, notices or directions by the management team may result in account suspension or permanent ban. The decision of the administrators or moderators of Australian LS1 and Holden Forums is final and you agree to abide by any decision or directive from any administrator or moderator.

In other words, if you don't follow the direction, you risk a ban. I don't see the confusion.
