Just saw this go up today. Not a bad review of the R8 Clubbie. Theres some useful comparisons with it and the FPV GT, and not surprisingly the HSV wins pretty much every time :eyes:

Research...research...research...

Can't deny the facts HSV makes great cars, but since the MY9.5 release late 2008 all manual HSV's have the newer, much smoother, better TR6060 transmission replacing the old clunker "which gear am I in" T56 box.

Now you would think a motoring journo would do some reasearch and not just pull an old write up out, freshen it up without checking the cars specs...
Oooopps silly me, that's you... Tim

Research…research…research…

(A six-speed manual, of course, is also available - an upgraded MIO Tremec T56.)

WRONG it now has the TR6060 as used by Ford, a beautiful tranny that shits all over the T56 ask anyone, maybe even a motoring journo….oops thats you … silly me !!

Mate,
Smartarses are a dime a dozen. Next time just shoot us an email and we'll respect you more. The review was of an auto, the mention of the manual was per HSV's last mention of the manual on their own media site (there is no mention that I can find of the upgraded box).
We like our cars but we don't go around memorising gearbox models, and that includes me, the owner of three HSV's over the last 7 years.
If you for one moment realised the amount of time, effort and expense that goes into reviewing and photographing these cars, I suspect your attitude would be more helpful and less dramatic.
We have updated the article and thank you for the info.

Cheers,

Talk about hitting a nerve and thanks for your offer, but I don't need, nor do I want your respect. I just want accurate reporting. I thought as part of your job description as a journo the comment "research...research...research" an apt one to make given your error, even if in "your" eyes and "mine" for that fact was a small one.

If I as a prospective purchaser could find out by merely asking the HSV dealer what upgrades if any had taken place since the release, you would think any journo, whose job is to do the research would ask and not rely on what was obviously an outdated spec sheet.
If you had "you" would also have found out that (and you can update your report with this if you want to be "correct") when it was upgraded to the MY9.5 it gained the better TR6060 g/box, the dipstick was relocated back toward the firewall and the sliding centre arm rest was now fixed (you can find out why or shall I for you?).

Free speech is terrific, unless you can't take the critisicsm.... mate.
Don't you just love it when the "smart arse" is right. I can move on from this, the question is can you ?

Regards, your "mate" dumb and dumber.
