Hi mods,
Do you think it would be possible to have a post from the mods in locked threads as to why they are locked ?
Not just the public liability one but in others as well ?
I think it just ties everything together and doesnt leave users wondering what happened.
Cheers,
Peter

Yeah we where the naughty ones and way off topic. Its in the PM you get from them when the post is deleted.
Also I would think following previous atempts like this to converse with the moderation team have ended in lockeroo and been politely told to contact via the bottom of the page link.
Just a friendly warning before someone else says so. :)

The moderators should not lock threads. Instead they should delete inappropriate posts and warn the offenders.

Sometimes the moderators are too busy looking into other issues within the realms of the forum that they do not have the time to put a reason in and often, a reason is simply so obvious, that it ought not require an explanation. Or, if they do, they are simply PM'ed and/or emailed abuse for the following few days.
There are, as Duke indicates, ways to bring things to the attention of the Moderators and that is to either report a bad post, or use the 'contact us' link.
I think that many here think this is a constitutional democracy, however, it is not. The forum is owned by an individual and moderated by persons who receive nothing but goodwill for their time. No complaint from me on that point, however, the moderators simply get sick and tired of some of the rot that goes on behind the scenes.
After a wafting diatribe, I'll simply state that the moderators do not owe any explanation as to why a thread is closed and I 'spose, that is that.
cheers
Oh yeah - I'm closing this one also. :admin:

Peter, in a few words. No.
Mods do this job as a volunteer type thing. No pay, no favours usually just abuse. Time is precious and quite often we dont have the time to do this to all threads locked.
Threads are locked for various reasons.
However, the thread starter receives a notice stating the thread has been closed and why.
Generally a glance over the forums T&C will reveal why the thread was locked. If it doesnt then have a second look.
The thread your referring to was locked as it served no point. Only 3 or 4 people provided an answer to the question asked.
Ive explained to Eddie why it was closed and offered him a better solution should he decide to opt for it.
I hope Ive clarified that for you. ;)
The moderators should not lock threads. Instead they should delete inappropriate posts and warn the offenders.
So when a thread in its entirety is innapropriate what would YOU have us do??:goodjob:
Obviously you dont get tired of readiing over the same topics rehashed over and over again.
