Nah just wet tyres (from not doing a burnout) and good power/weight ratio!!

I cannot believe how many people have forgotten the word "them". If the gender is unknown, it should read as follows:

I feel sorry for them

Seriously?

saw the same thing happen at "operation drag" at the gold coast drag strip a 10 sec car was racing the cop car he did a little burn out on slicks but maybe for not long enough, next thing into the wall at about the 50mtr mark. cop car went on to run a 11 from what i remember, dam bumpy old track in the braking area for 11 sec. cars.

makes you do the economics... do skid cost $20.00 worth of tyre.... no skid $8000.00 at the panel beater.

poor bugger in his cobra, bet his wife toasted him.........

Poor guy was a passenger once it let go.

In spite of all out great "steerers" commenting in this thread, they'd do the same thing i'm sure, but instead crash their car worth 1/30th of his

Why didn't "they" just get off the gas...?

Surely if you can feel it letting go, you'd just back off.

Love the AC Cobra's!

This accident did not happen because of tires cold , wet or what ever.

It happened because of driver error.

I can't believe the person just sat there and not react to what the car was doing.

It looks like there was a slight attempt to turn the steering to the right just before hitting the wall, but by that time the driver was just a passenger in the car.

Clearly no idea what they where doing behind the wheel or what to expect.

Bit harsh on the criticism but this person is on a race track and has the potential to really hurt them selves and others, if that's their level of driving.

It looked like a soft launch out of the hole with the car braking traction a few meters later.

I would hate to think if the car did the same thing at high speed and the person reacted the same way . . . .

Nah just wet tyres (from not doing a burnout) and good power/weight ratio!!

Sounds more like this is how the driver justifies his poor attempt at driving.

I am just glad he was in the left lane! Imagine he was in the right lane and there was someone in the left lane, one minute your driving, next minute you have that thing trying to get in the drivers door.

Best quote to sum this up "To much car, not enough driver"

Maybe its the driver, however dont be too harsh as many of those Cobra replicas have the handling finesse and chassis control akin to 'running down a hill with a wheelbarrow' Not a matter of if you stack it, but when. Nasty old rubbish

Few key moments in the clip

1. Says 13 to the starter:confused:assume dial in time

2. Diff appears to be single spinner:confused:but not certain
3. Car does not cross the centre line so no problem:goodjob:

Nah I was just answering the post that said he must have dumped it for it to let go like it did. Incorrect, he drove it off the line very easily = no clutch dump. Correct answer is it let go due to wet tyres and/or superior power/wieght ratio. I was not commenting on the cause of the crash, but the cause of the rear letting go.

Sounds more like this is how the driver justifies his poor attempt at driving.

Regarding the crash. Definately a combination of both insufficient grip and too much car not enough driver IMO.

He has probably driven it a fair bit on the road and given it plenty of squirts on straight sections of road, so he would have known how much grip it usually has. Being a low experienced driver he decides not to risk lives on public roads and takes it to the track to see what it can do. Knowing how it behaves on the street, and assuming more grip due to a prepped track, he is caught totally off guard when the cold/wet tyres spin up far too easily and then obviously doesn't have the skills to save it (as stelth said, he is not even in the same ballpark regarding skills needed to save it).

On warm/dry tyres the coefficient of friction would have been far better and more what he was probably used to from driving on the street. Whether that would have made for a clean run or not, I don't know. My advice would be for him to do a year of two of motorkhana's in it and that will bring his car control up where its needed, while keeping the speeds down in the meantime.
