Sounds like the beast wants to show off the power from the new CAI..
Sorry, that was un called for... I have never heard of that, but i'm no Auto elec.
I hope someone can shed some light on that for you. Cheers

ESP has lots of sensors apparently and is very sensitive. I once had my ESP turn off with a pod CAI when driving in fairly heavy rain (just when you need it most! I started a thread on here on it as was puzzled as to the cause). No matter what I did I couldn't get it to come back on. Left the car parked for a few hours and all was fine again. The consensus was that the water had splashed up and maybe wet the filter affecting one of the many sensors tied in with ESP and when it dried out again all was fine.

Just make sure everything was connected up again properly after the CAI was installed. It's almost certainly to do with that. Which CAI?

it was a shit of a job because it was done from scratch (inc rounding out stainless sheet metal) but the end result is awsome. im not sure of dyno specs yet but the pwr increase has to be felt to be believed!!!

good job, looks very neat, but i feel you will be unpleasantly suprised when you run it up a few times. good luck

 That setup looks farrrrkin awesome!!!!! :goodjob:
I hope the performance gain was as good as the visual gain.....:jester:
Top work mate.

It's the same as the SS Inductions design, except the SS one has a plastic shrowd that helps a bit with a ramair pressure thingy, and reduces hot air getting sucked into it...

Still, awesome skills you got there mate!! Nice work :goodjob:

Re: your ESP off issue. Did u try an ECU reset? ie disconnecting the battery for a bit?

Does look good, but the "cold" in cold air intake is considerably reduced. Might have some epa issues if you get pulled over too...

If you also have fitted extactors (where you need to remove the steering shaft from the rack), it will log a steering corrolation code that turns off ESP. Tech 2 will get rid of code.

Check your wiring then. No IAT sensor, ie unplugged etc, will induce the same symptoms of no ESP. IF, all you have done is change your intake and rewire your IAT then I'll bet my left nut its your wiring job.

Perhaps a little more info about what you mean by "redone my iat sensor"

all i did was found the two wires for the iat, cut em and wired the new iat up.
i havnt tried disconnecting the battery yet tho.

i built my own cai.

Nice work there, but i think you'll find thats a Hot Air Induction.

The reason why CAI's draw cool(er) air from outside the engine bay.

Put the car into engineering mode and tell me what the IAT reads.

1. Hold in scroll button and turn ingnition to on
2. Scroll down until you find IAT it should read ambient

if it reads ambient you just need to get your codes wiped, if it doesnt read ambient then you have wring issues

good advice above on VZ had IAT wiring issue when i removed OTR IAT was showing -40 or somethin readjusted wiring and all good so i would say definately the issue. Scantool will also show u this.

There are a few things not mentioned here...

Has the car been tuned? It appears that you have decided to go for a MAFless setup with the new intake. If you have not tuned the car to run without the MAF, you will have all sorts of issues.
The VE can be very picky about how the different systems talk together. Interrupting the communications bus can cause many issues with ESP and ABS. This can include scan devices as well as sensor inputs, so try disconnecting any devices plugged into the ODBII port.
Setting off the ESP warning can cause the PCM / BCM to go into a check sequence and require the ignition to be cycled a number of times with no fault, before the fault is cleared. This "may" be something like 6 cycles, but I'm not exactly sure.
Checking the IAT signal as boyley mentions is a good quick check. I take it that you used the "brown" wires for the IAT and not the "black, pink, yellow".

Simon.
