For sale is a 400 Small Block Chev with 4 bolt splayed steel main caps.
All five caps are steel, not just the centre caps. It has been crack tested and is declared structurally sound.
This block was not an original 4 bolt, but a 2 bolt which has been converted to 4 bolt with splayed caps.
After some research, I have found that the original 4 bolt blocks were thinner in the main webbing area, making the conversion a smarter but more expensive option.
The bore has been machined to 4.165" which I'm also selling the pistons to suit (see other add). All machine work has been done by a reputable machine shop in Melbourne.
The block can also been run in a dry sump application due to the modification of the steel rear main bearing cap – no issues with standard configuration.
The mains are machined to run 350 main journals, which I can supply the bearings to suit - you can use a stock 350 crank.
I'm sad to advertise this as these blocks are becoming really rare, but my plans have changed for this project.
