Hello, Newbie here!

I've been looking at upgrading the stock rims on my Turismo blue Monaro and just wanted to check with the wealth of knowledge which exists on this forum on a number of issues. Please excuse me if some of my questions seem really naive as I've had the car only a few months and some advice so far has been conflicting. Here goes:

1. I'm looking at getting these... http://www.zenetti.com/wheels/index.php?wheelID=7&carID=
in 19 x 8.5 with 245/35 tyres. Will these fit on the car without the guards being rolled or other modifications? Are these the largest I can go without big $$$ on mods? Will rolling the rear guards require repainting these areas? (I'm not looking to lower the vehicle as too many speed bumps & pot holes up here in Darwin).

2. Are the Zenetti wheels any good, quality? I know they're made by China Wheels. Anything similar that you would recommend? I'm looking for a balance between good handling around bends etc and bling, hence the 19's (or should I stay with 18's).

3. Does the wheel (Zinetti Rouges B) suit the Monaro or should I stay with a traditional 5 spoke design?

4. Does the wheel need a 45 degree off set? Some say it does others say less.

5. Will going to 245's instead of the 235's provide any significant increase in traction or should I stay with what I've got because changing sizes in the Monaro is more trouble than it's worth?

Sorry for all the lame questions. I did do a search but couldn't find anything specific to the Monaro and the sizes I'm looking at. Hopefully the link below will show my car to help with your advice. Be honest, I can take it

hey mate i like the wheels you've pointed out i think they'll look hot on your car, can't speak much on the quality because i've never owned a set of those wheels. i personally think it's good to go with somethin different than the traditional 5 spoke, i'd go for it. as for the gaurds i'm pretty sure you can get away with 19's and not rolling the gaurds ( i had 19's on my old vu ss ute with king lows and still never had the gaurds rolled) so i think your safe being stock height

Hi mate. +45 with 8.5 inch you would not want to go any more especially with 245 tyres. They would fit without guard rolling as long as the offset is not less than +40 or so. Nothing wrong with 19s but you may notice a small marginal ride change and may feel some more tiny road bumps but nothing a few days driving wont fix. You get used to it pretty quick
I dont mind the look of the wheels. I recon they would look good. Not so sure the black and the blue car would work. Might need a photoshop. No idea on the quality but do some google work and see what comes up
Traction wise 235/245 will hardly be noticable but with the right compound and tyre you can get odles of traction from 245s. Just depends on wear rate, noise, ride quality etc. I use the Nangang NS2 and found these to have the best strightline grip of any 19s I have ever used. Great in the wet too.
It is about balance and what you can live with.

With a bit of guard rolling, but no painting, I've got 245/35/19's on 19" x 8.5" on the front and 275/30/19's on 19" x 9.5" on the rear.

[QUOTE=HSV Listy;1518386] Not so sure the black and the blue car would work. Might need a photoshop.

I saw a picture of a Turismo Monaro with similar wheels and they looked pretty good. To me they looked more business (race) then bling. The black matches the tinted windows and tyres while the chrome rims match the exhaust tips. I'm thinking that black rear tail lights will finish off the exterior nicely.

"With a bit of guard rolling, but no painting, I've got 245/35/19's on 19" x 8.5" on the front and 275/30/19's on 19" x 9.5" on the rear."

Wow Dyno junkie I'd like to see pics of that. :yup: Just rolled or were the guards flared? I'd rather not risk paint chipping and metal tearing if I can help it.

Thanks for the info so far guys, it's really helpful :)

Another option just presented itself. I'm now seriously considering the Vertini Fashions in 19 x 8.5. I've seen them on an Audi and they looked pretty good.
http://www.vertiniwheels.com/images/wheels/fashion/fashion.htm??/

I've been quoted by one SA store $390 each for delivery to Darwin. Is this a reasonable price and what do people think of these wheels. A better choice then the Zenetti Rouges for my car?

Depends on the look you are going for. Both are classy rims. The Zenitti's are more race orientated and there are more around. The Vertini wheels are very classy and are becoming the wheel of the moment so you are likely to see a lot more around soon.

Mind you being located in Darwin I wouldnt worry about how popular they are.

I personally say go the Vertini they are such a nice looking rim.

The black rim with silver dish will look very sweet on your ride.

Ever considered these wheels for your car?

I have a set for sale if your interested in 20x8.5

Thanks Simo

I did consider the Ziniks and they made my short list. However I was hoping to stay with a 245/35/19 tyre to keep the speedo reasonably accurate and still have a comfortable ride. If I go to 245/30/20 I'm worried the ride will be rougher and rear wheel spin way too easy. I could be wrong about this and am not opposed to being better educated on this subject:confused:

That said, if the rims are mint and at the right price, I'm always open to persuasion :D PM me.

I've decided (with the blessing of the chief financial controller) on the Vertini Fashion. I've had one quote already and I'm waiting for one from Ozzy Wheels for four 19" x 8.5" - However - dyno Junkie has tempted me to get 9.5s for the rear. I'm going to ring Shannons tomorrow to see how this staggered combo will affect my insurance if at all. The biggest deterrent is who in Darwin can I trust to roll the guards and not ruin my precious.

Hi nice choice in wheels but you may want to think hard about your decision in getting the chrome lip as cannot be repaired if you manage to do the gutter rash thing. I have a similar wheel on my ve ss ute in 20 inch, was going to get the exact same but talked out of it for this reason. And then 2 weeks later guess what happened, yep gutter bashed em and now im real happy I didnt get the chrome lips.:)

You can actually get 305's under the rear with a bit of extra rolling :):) I have 305's under my SV8 and a monaro is easier to get them under :):)

Oh come on guys, the decision was hard enough to make without now having to consider this as well. However I think I'll still stick with the Vertini as I don't think I've parallel parked once in the 3 months I've had it. If I go to Bunnings I usually park it by itself at the top of the carpark 1.4 km from the store entrance. :)

Ozzy tyres haven't bothered to reply with a quote yet but if their quote is competitive I'd probably use them as they could roll my guards when fitting the 9.5's on the rear. I think 275 would be the widest I would go.

Shannons also said as long as roadworthy maintianed I could fit whatever I liked within reason. :smilesandbanana:

Just found out that Ozzy tyres can't supply the Vertini Fashion even though it's listed on their website. Oh well, so much for trying to support the local guys. I'm now purchasing from interstate and will go the staggered option as I think I've found someone up here who will do a decent job rolling the guards :woohoo:

Should also have sufficient privileges soon to post pics of the results!

So are you still getting vertini fashion in 19 or are you getting 20 inch and if so can I ask where you are getting them from.

Aaarrrggggghhhhhhhh! After being told that Vertini Fashion in 19 inch wouldn't be a problem, even if they had to get them imported from the US, I'm now told it won't happen :bawl::vpo::bawl:

Now the hunt for the perfect wheels goes on. I'm still after 19's and going staggered (which prohibits anything larger than 19's on the Monaro I'm told). Also want some black on them and prefer a race style. Now, I ask you, is that too much to ask for?

My offer is still open to you buddy :D

You could go 20x8.5 with 245 30 20 all round. Vertini make other rims in 19 inch.

The world or wheels and tyres. Been there dont that and near drove me nuts.

Take it as a leaning lesson and dont forget the offsets as the last thing you want is to get a set of wheels ordered in and get the offsets wrong.
Coconut grove paint and panel did my guard roll and they did a good job. Guard rolling can be a little hit and miss too so make sure you sort out with the bloke doing it to get done right.

I have found the blokes at tyrepower in the city to be pretty helpfull too with knowing what room there is under your car and getting measurements done to get you sorted out with offsets.

Yeah I could go 20 but I'm told the load ratings precludes the better tyres and I was after the Goodyear Eagles. I did look at the Vertini Rivieras in 19's but the problem then is I wouldn't be able to fit larger brakes:banghead:

Spoke with paint & panel and I've only heard good things about their work ($75 a guard).

However I'm starting to get a little discouraged and the original wheels aren't all that bad I suppose :shiner:

These may be an option. They appear to come in the sizes I was after, look Vertini Fashionish and have clearance for big brakes. I'll call them on Monday, wish me luck.

Well, for all those that are interested (all three of you), I've finally received the new Blaque Diamond rims with Goodyear Eagles. Today the rear guards were rolled :goodjob: and wheels checked for fit. No problems there:)

Tomorrow I get the Pedders Extreme XA's installed and the wheels fitted and aligned. If all goes well I'll post pics of the final product on Friday. I can't wait as the BD's look menacing (or cute if you ask the missus).

Well, here are a couple of links to the new wheels fitted to the Missile. As reported earlier they are 245/35/19s at the front and 265/30/19s at the rear. I think they give the car menace. The Pedders XA coilovers also installed makes the car a cornering wizard.

Mate the car sits great on those rims. How much did you lower it and with the 265's under the arse end even with guards rolled do you get any rubbing at all (particularly on the inner guards). I am looking to change the rims on both my Monaro from 18" to 19" and my ss ute from 20" to 19" also.

I haven't noticed any rubbing inside or outside but I've only done less than 60 km since fitting them. The little rubber hairs on the new tyres are still there and I'd guess they'd be the first to go if there was excessive ware.

It's only been lowered by 10 mm and I expect it will settle another 5 to 10 mm once the new coilovers bed. Not lowering her too much and keeping the XAs relatively hard seems to be the key to keeping out of trouble. I'll have to see how it rides though with passengers in the back (which I rarely have).

Only thing with 265's on 9.5 rims is that there isn't much protection for the rim so there's no parallel parking for me (something I also rarely do). :nono:
