View Full Version : Why so many Utes in the Quick list??

Hey all,

Just wondering why there are so many utes at the top of the LS1 quick list.

From the specs on the list they seem to be heavier than the equivelent sedans.

Are they getting better traction? Are there more being raced/modded 'cause they're cheaper? Or is it something more, like different engine/trans/diff specs?

Perhaps because you cant fit the wife and kids in them at the same time, so "She Who Must be Obeyed"isn't so touchy about modding them..........HeHeHeHe:eek:

Coz they're about 10 grand cheaper for the same drivetrain...?

Im not a ute and i made it in there LOL sometimes i wish i got a ute but the Mrs said Kids and i went oh. Plus with the $10 large spare u can do sum wiiiiiiicked mods

Interesting. I always thought the reason was that utes were significantly lighter (by one or more hundred kgs) than their sedan equivalents. However, looking at the specifications there is at most a 15-30kg difference, depending on the model.

The was an interesting question about that asked in Motor mag....XR6T ute v's cost of XR6T sedan and likewise sedans.....big price dif in sedans but only abot $1500 in utes....
