Today i ripped a burnout in my ve ss ute and then went on to try and do another but the the clutch sticked and there was no wheel spin just lots of smoke coming out from under the car and a bad smell. I drove it home and it seemed fine just still stinks a bit. Do you think i have done any damage to anything?
cheers

This is a common issue with the ve's, i believe its in the actual mechanism of how the clutch depresses to the floor its designed to assist itself down in the lower half and is a design fault, (i think thats part of the problem at least) but the slave cylinder in the clutch is a plastic item that doesnt deal well with heat, so i might be a bit paranoid about that if id had that happen. The only thing you can do is get a new clutch assembly and the vz slave cylinder mod which is a stronger metal item, the clutch will still do it as its a design fault of the mechanism itself, but not half as much. I hope this is of some help!

Oh yeah, i get it thanks for that. it seems to be fine at the minute so i hope i just wore the clutch down a bit prematurely. I still have that dirty clutch smell in my nose. cheers

I've got a VE clubby and I recently had an issue with the clutch pedal sticking. I ended up having to get a warranty job done on it. A new clutch kit was installed. I believe it was a new flywheel and pressure plate.

Do a search for the massive VE clutch pedal sticking thread.
It explains toward the end that a cure that has been developed. It is not the slave cylinder.

Mine does the same after a few skids. it will sort itself out, i was told its deposits left on the flywheel from the clutch.

Welcome to the world of ve clutch probs.
If you plan on doing heaps of burnouts you'd better plan on getting an upgraded clutch. The stock item is only good for fast takeoff's and everyday driving. From a performance side they are useless. Use the search and you will f
ind enough info to help you solve the prob.
Cheers,
Andy.

How long did the burnout go for before you realized that you were "burning out" the wrong thing???
I believe that the low performance value of the VE clutches it to prevent premature rear tyre wear. Seems as though everything worked as it was designed to. :confused:

And why cars with a bucket full of rubber particles in the rear wheel arches get their driveline warranty issues rejected...:teach:

Here to help!
It's not the only way to tell though, plus you need a damn good vacuum cleaner to get all that melted on rubber off...:hide:

Always targeting the youngsters :confused::confused::bawl:
My 50 y.o. uncle and 45 y.o. friend do more burnouts than my whole group of car nut friends combined... Most of us are of the opinion that it's simply wasting tyres.
:smilesandbanana::smilesandbanana::rofl::rofl:
Good luck with the clutch, you'll be back and spitting the cheese off bridgestones in no time.

I gave the car a hiding 2 weeks ago with 7 laps around winton and a motokhana event. It stills smells driving it today yet doesnt show signs of slipping. I was at 6500 in 2nd flat out and decided 1st was a much better gear than 3rd:bawl::bawl: clutch pedal went like goo. But everything o.k now. I've taken a few thousand of the life but you have to drive it hey:eyes:.
Pedal does now feel easier to engage next gear. Not so on/off

I was only burning out the clutch for about 5 seconds, and driving it around today doing a few skids it seems fine

I believe that if you completely blow your clutch whilst doing a burnout, you can give the local police a call, as they offer a competitively priced towing service.
Always an option.
