hey all

did a search but wasnt successful..

anyway, i have a 03 vy ss, and i want to fit a tow bar to it.

i have to tow a 1600kg set up.

now the thing is, i believe the max i can tow ( with brakes ) is 2100kg.

that is fine, but im after places to get it fitted and cost of different weight set ups..

i dont even know how it is fitted, but if there is no welding involved then i can do it, as otherwise i imagine welding would institute a certificate of fitment..

anyway, if anyone knows some places around hastings in VIC that would be great....

any info would be good.

cheers again

jack

hey mate.
i just bought a 1600kg genuine holden towbar, i fitted it myself to my vy ss. it came with good detailed instructions, showing evan how tight to do the bolts up. it didnt require any welding which was good.
there was also a 2100kg towbar available to get which requried a bit more work to set up.

im not to sure what they retail for as i got it holesales through a friend. mine was genuine holden 1600kg with a square removable tongue, i had to buy the wireing kit seperate (which was easier to install than the towbar). just give your local holden dealer, see what there selling them for.

Dandy Towbars do good work and the last time I had a Hayman Reese 2100kg hitch fitted it was $495.

I paid about $60 to have the 1600kg Holden tow bar removed from my VY recently. Took the guy a bit over an hour to do it. He had to remove the rear bar, unhook all the reversing sensors, etc. Made it easier being on a hoist that's for sure.

If anyone wants to buy the tow bar contact me as i still have it sitting in my garage doing nothing. Comes with tongue, ball, pin, wiring harness, etc.

It's not a hard job. I recently upgraded our VY from a 1600 Holden towbar to a HR 2100 (towing 1690KG), the job cost $165 at Daalders in Dandenong, have always found them quite good.

A new HR 2100 fitted is more like 700-800 now, got my S/H from here :)

Still have the 1600 sitting at home, with wiring.
