The work ute

Make: Holden
Model: 12/08 VE SSV Ute
Colour: Sting Red
Engine: L98
Power: 310rwkw with 10,000klm on speedo, it now has 28,000 and is much much better!!!!!!!!!!
Exhaust: Custom 1 7/8 stainless headers and twin 3" Stainless Steel, Hi-Flow 100CPI Cats,
Driveline: 6 speed Auto "tweaked"
Suspension: King Springs....Lowered 2' rear, 1' Front
Brakes: SSV Standard
Lights: HID bloody bright ones, L.E.D lamps everywhere else
Diff: Changed fron 2.92:1 to 3.4:1
Interior: Standard Charcoal Leathers
Audio: Camed engine at 6,000rpm sounds like a touring car. nothing better than that!!!! :goodtime:
Exterior: Window tint, Debadged, Chev Badges/Grill
Wheels: 19" VE SSV Stock rims in gloss black,
Mods: DUS OTR Air intake, ported and polished throttlebody, Mafless Tune 224/228 cam, springs, Pushrods, cooler Thermostat, U/D Pulley and Remap of Gearbox.
Future Mods: install reversing camera and Upgrade to Maloo and do it all again
Special Thanks: DUS and Oztrack

Anybody that has heard this ute will say it is one of the sweetest sounding cars they have heard. It has a nice idle that gives it the Muscle car rock and a sound of a touring car onces it hits 4000rpm.

I have not hat it at a track yet but will do it before the end of the year when I may look at upgrading. It does go from 90-140Klm in 3.45seconds and will brake traction once it hits around 4,000rpm in second gear.

I previoulsy had a VY SS ute with the same mods but I am extreamly impressed with the VE series.

Would love to put twin turbo's on it but it is a company car :bawl:

Hope you like!

The exhaust is a piece of art work and was made by a bloody top bloke who is very very close to the V8 Supercars and used his knowledge from there to build this system. Worth every penny as it has the best note on any car I have owned.

In comparrison to the VY model. This thing just squats and launches. The only time that it may step out on you is in second gear when it hitsa around 4,000 rpm. It really pulls hard all the way to around 6800rpm

Managed to wash the old girl today and take a quick video of the idle

That's really good to hear! Theres nothing worse than not being able to put the power down in times when you rely on the ability for the car to accelerate quickly (overtaking especially).. It seemed the worked VZ and previous utes seemed to be very tail happy, good to hear the VE throws the power to the road and holds it through! And in your case, it's Maloo beating fast! Awesome ute mate...

Its sounding nice Eddie.
Its worth mentioning that the car is still fine with the stock stall as well. Its about a big a cam as anyone would want in a L98 though.
Now that its free'd up a bit it would probably make more than that on the dyno as well.

You know you want the hair dryers. But then you would have to get rid off that handy work you done on the intake.LOL

On a different note do you think the rear mufflers you originally had on the car would fit onto my ve.

Steve,
Happy with the ute all round. Can't go past Will and the team at Winmalee Car care. Top notch job. Will be going back for sure.

The car drives like a stocker. It is chalk and cheese from when it was tuned with only 10,000klm on it.

The standard converter works fine and have had no issues with it or the box!

In saying that, I am aiming to do it all again within 12 Months with a Maloo and a Manual.

Hair dryers maybe on a Maloo. I took the VK out for a drive today and you can't beat a GT42R on 10psi at 100klm/hr sidways lol

I have been know to be a handyman and try to always improse things LOL LOL

As for the Mufflers, I am almost tempted to put them back on for a weekend. go for a drive through the M5 tunnel, you'll hear me from your place!!!

You can not go past the intake that DUS's makes for the VE. Very neat fitting and works a treat. Cam choice is a tricky one but anything in th3 230's is pretty big for a daily driver but it is still managable. but you will loose in the bottom end.

I love the package that I have put together and I hope I crack 320rwkw next weekend.

with my R8 it does'nt get out much at all so I could go something a bit angry.
I like 1 I seen on youtube a russo cam in a black VE GTS sounds tuff, but as I'm not up to speed with cams or OTR's I have to have a good look around & ask a bunch of questions, bearing in mind Im nearly 50 so cant be too crazy.

50, mate, your just getting into the swing of it. Don't let age hold you back. For you I would look at a mid to low 230's cam. If you want a really angry or lumpy idle, this can be done in the tune to make it sound like a much larger cam.

I did a lot of research on cams, tuners, and OTR. I originall had a Russo unit but sold it to get a DUS unit. much easier to clean and more positive intake. But at the end of the day, each to their own.

A bit of quarter panel damage but just a pain in the arese to go through to get it fixed. Funny thing is she said that she didn't see it or hear it. How the heel do you miss a big red fire truch that was running and idleing like it does!!!!!!! Sad thing is that it happened in our own car park at work.

But, you got to take the good with the bad and look on the positve side. 10seconds before I was standing where she hit!!

I wonder if I can swing a body kit LOL. Just kidding, leave it as is. Even had 2 cops go over it the other night and loved it. Had a chat to them for 20min and then they went back to work!!!!!

THANKS

Found a red ute but no photo shop thingy sorry.....Is this what you are looking at ???

http://www.fibreenhancements.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=114&Itemid=151

I think it would really muscle and tuffin it up but think it looks and sounds tuff as it is especially if you are looking at upgrading to a marloo at the end of the year. Why dont you wait and do it to that? Now that will looking and sounds f&*king awesome i am sure. Cant wait.

As for the strip personally i would leave it off or maybe have one up one side on the front bonnet over the overtop and out the back?

Hope this helps. :)

Had a lady reverse into the side of the ute.

Thing is I was looking at going to the All holden day at the Hawkesberry showground this weekend. Maybe next time!!!:bawl:

Bugger so sorry to hear. The poor girl its a shame when you hear about something like this. All this work, your pride and joy and some lady not watching or listening to whats around her......typical women drivers lol.

sweet you have the cops on your side lol too funny.

It's all tape.

Will get a price for both but the front for sure.

I paid $500 for my front bar but that was to respray the whole thing cos it needed a knife mark fixed and I got the black bits done at the same time so it shouldnt be as much if your just getting the black added over the paint already on it

That and a Walky bonnet scoop will make it look like a Real Transformer LOL

Just a few more in day like.

Think it grows on you after a while. It would be better in gloss black not flat black to match the rims

So far the percentage is high to do it like this versus people that say no.

Nice ute you have there.. and I've played around with simliar things on mine (stripes etc)

Be interesting to get the stripe done in a vinyl rather than painted.. which way were you thinking?

The vinyl on mine is a Nikolite reflective.. black but changes a little
when certian light shines on it.. (some pics in my thread of it being done http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=110794

http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l231/VE-SS_2006/vess-stripes14.jpg

Ignoring the top stripe you did, how bout moving it down lower in
inline with the wheels? (took me a few min in photochop so its pretty rough)

Just gives you a different perspective.. Also thought about the back too..?

I've taken this straight from the FAQ:

Your post count will rise with the use of the forums, all forums count towards your post count with the exception of:
- The Tar Pit

- Multimedia Exchange

- Major Events Subforums

- Classifieds Subforums

- Sponsor Forums

- My Ride

Posts in the above forums WILL NOT go towards your post count.

Can I just post random stuff and reply to threads to get my post count up??

No. Doing so will result in a warning or suspension from the forum.

Hopefully that clears things up.

I'm pretty sure it's been this way for a fair while. It just weeds out the stayers from the fly-throughs. Seems harsh at first but makes a lot of sense. Makes for a better forum for everyone I reckon. :)

Well it's been a while. sort of head down at work and working on 3 VK's at the same time.

Ute has not changed much. I added some Bling Bling to it and put some LED lights up the front and rewired the lower fog lights to come on at the same time as the High beam. Upgraded the fuses from 10a to 15A and all ok as it drawss 11A when combined

This turns night into day. This took a little to do but all worth it in the end.

The old girl has around 55K on it and hasn't missed a beat. May need to be detailed as its been a while but it still looks OK.

100CPI 3 inch units

the 224/228 will give a nice note, power and a bit of a Lumpy idle.

I think Oz Track have a stealth cam that yeilds better results then the 224/228 and with a smooth idle.

Good luck

Car Bra Australia make decent bra's. I've had 2 over the years and had no problems. The only problem is if you scrap your front bumper on anything it tears the Bra easily and it's really not repairable unless you patch it somehow.
