Picked up my new toy bit over a week ago. It's a 2005 VZ SSZ ute 6 speed manual in Black with Red leather interior. This is my second LS1, I had a VX SS sedan for nearly 3 years which I sold in Feb this year. After a few months driving around in my 2ltr Hilux I was really missing my V8...so I bought another one:)

This is the first car that I have owned which is black and has leather, so I've been reading through the car care section as I think I will have to improve my detailing skills and knowledge with this one being black. I've always kept my cars clean and polished/waxed regularly so I don't mind the challenge of keeping a black car clean.

Am really happy I got Z model with all the extras, Twin buldge hard cover, Upgraded CV8Z brakes, Leather, Wheels, Binacle guages.

The ute has had a couple of modifications done by the first owner which include:

Twin 2.5" custom cat back exhaust, no mufflers just 4 hotdogs(2 centre and 2 rear) so it is not exactly quiet, burbles and crackles on decel.

It has been lowered on King springs (think they are SL front and rear)

K&N filter in standard air box

Tinted windows

Chev grille

I'm happy with it as it is now, it sits nice, sounds like a V8 and looks great. Next on the list of things to do is get some ss floor mats as there is none in it and it also need a chev bowtie badge for the tailgate as at the moment there is two holes where the badge was.

Future plans are:

Order a few things from car care products and give it a good detail

Lower grille for the front bar

Alloy footrest to match the pedals, looks stupid without it what was holden thinking?? (i know it was a cost cutting thing)

Probably change the exhaust setup, get hold of some HSV extractors and possibly a twin 3" cat back, want to keep costs down so will see what comes up second hand.

OTR

Will definately be getting a tune done, am still deciding if I should get a mail order done now to keep me happy for a while or hold off for maybe 6 months to a year and get it tuned after all the mods are done. hmmmm

A DIY cam install is on the cards, not a huge cam, want good low down torque and a lumpy idle, keeping economy in mind.

May change wheels in the future, something like VE GTS in 19's. However I'm happy with the standard 18's, really nice wheel, was actually going to put these on my VX.

Will see how things go, mods wont be starting for a couple of months as I'm in the process of buying my first home, so once that's sorted and i'm settled in I will start work on the ute.

More pics to come
