View Full Version : Need to engineer my twin tubo setup (defected)

I only just got my car registered today after being in storage for about a year. Twin Turbo with exhaust etc. And defected within the hour.

I have been yellow stickered and given 24 hours to drive it. Rear tyres failed, and not being engineered for air intake and exhaust listed. Requires an AUVIS inspection.

Does anyone know any place that is good for engineering ? Its just a standard gentt kit.

Cheers.

How can you get it registered & then defected for bald tyres within the hour???

I think that speaks for itself almost doesn't it.... good tyres to pass roadworthy.... bad tyres within the hour!

Good luck with that.

i gave the car a bit of a squirt out of a corner. not speeding, just gave the tyres a bit of a spin. i accept i was in the wrong.

i only just got the car back. will i be allowed to drive it to an engineer after the 24 hours ?

Take the turbo kit off, replace your rear tyres, put the standard exhaust back, clear the defect.

assumptions are for wankers.

who said i demolished good tyres in an hour ?
i blue slipped with standard rims and put good wheels on (old tyres) after that. booked in for new tyres tomorrow.

if you dont wanna give advice, why say anything ?
last time i checked 24 yr olds dont go to school.

Idiot, serves you right...

Easy to critisize, bit more difficult to actually help

I suppose you never had a speeding ticket, even a MAF-less tune is technically unroadworthy

try the tradingpost , i see engineers advertising for this sort of thing.

How cruel these people are ! lol, there would not be one person on this forum that would not have done the same. Waiting a year to unleash a TTLS1 can not be easy ! I'm quite surprised you lasted an hour ! A bit like when you are getting your first love party with a girl I would think :)

Jarod, call the RTA and ask them for all the blueslip stations in the orange area. Then call a few and ask them who does their engineering for them. One name is bound to crop up as a straight shooter and knowledgable one.

I doubt you will get away without having to remove anything but see how you get on. Lets hope you have better news for us next time.

Good luck with it :)

HaHa should have waited for tonight as another thread explains the cops wont be issuing any tickets etc. UNLUCKY! Now seriously that sux! Do you even have the original parts to change to standard or know of any mates?

Jarod,

Orange isn't exactly a big town and you will pretty much have a target on your back with regards to checking your compliance for some time I would imagine. For this reason it is probably best to either take everything off and leave it off (not a nice idea I know), or get everything above-board (costs a fair bit) so that you are sweet when (not if) wheeled by the Wallopers or Mermaids again.

As suggested, your local RTA should be a place to start with regards to identifying engineers and processes that you need to follow including advice on what restrictions, limitations, obligations and forms of administrative review you face with the defect, and they ought to also be a good source of advice as to what you need to take care of and what is okay by their standards.

Good luck with it and cheers, TB

Idiot, serves you right...

I think thats a bit harsh. Im sure you dont have a halo floating above your head.

But any how,
send me a PM if you like and i can put you onto a guy in Sydney who can engineer it for you at a fair price. He isnt dodgy, but he is very fair.

Cheers for the help. I think my only option is an engineer. I just dont really undertand the rules of the defect. After tomorrow im not allowed to drive it anymore. I reckon it'll be a bit longer then that before i could get an appointment with an engineer.

id check with the rta first but im pretty sure you are allowed to drive the car to and from workshop to get defect cleared or work carried out to rectify defect.

id also check but there use to be an engineer in dubbo but not sure if still there

just had a look about for you and the guy in dubbo is still listed.

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/vsi/vsi_15_engineering_signatories_june_2009.pdf

he is listed on page 9

hope this helps

Thats my understanding too.

Think it says so on the back of the yellow sticker too :1peek:

Just call the Rta/dpi they will give you the details your after.

Or go in and see them if your worried about being told the wrong thing. Any thing they tell you should be written somewhere so ask for print outs of key advice.

Should of just waited the 1 day if you were going to get new tyres:jester:

If you're not able to drive to and from to get a defect cleared then you might be able to get a day pass like they give out for unregistered vehicles that attend motor shows etc. Either way, there's a way around anything these days... Good luck dude.

I also think that you can only go directly to the nearest inspection point no day trips to Sydney.

I got a few engineers to call tomorrow. Thanks for all the help guys.
