Hi guys,
I have today been out looking at exhuast and tunes for my VY ss ute. Have been getting lots of conflicting reports in the extracter/header area.
Ive been told that pacemaker 4 into 1 are the best extracters but then also been told a Genie Try Y is better for the road as it produces more low down torque and the 4 into 1 is more for top end power. Also told by 1 mob that the shorter headers are not much benefit over standard where somebody else says the shorter headers are the way to go on the VY.
I am thinking of going with the Genie Try Y's, free flowing cats into my existing 2 1/2 inch x'force system.
What do you guys think. And before somebody says talk to the sponsors on this sight, that is who ive been out talking to today.

Try harder. Use "exhaust" "headers" VYSS".
You'll die of old age before you get through all the threads. :)

I agree there is alot on exhausts, but my question is in relation to the extracters and there is not much info on it to be found. (16 threads and none answer my question)

Here is a link that compares extractors and has a fair bit of info! :)

In my opinion, unless you are going for a particular sound or mods including cam and head work the Try y's will work OK for you, but don't expect to pick up any huge power increase from a set of extractors!

Thanks for the link. Doesnt really seem to matter which option I take unless I was concerned about getting every possible kw out of it. Most options seem fairly close in performance.

Try using the correct spelling for extractors and you will probably do better because as others have said it has been done to death on here.
On LS1 the general consensus as I've read it on here seems to be in line with what you found - tri-y's are probably better for street use where you don't want to lose low down torque. Just don't make the mistake I made with my VZ SS before I'd been on here long and put on a set of HM tri-y's but turns out they were only the smaller set and it was going to be messy to add decent high flow cats and take advantage of them.

Hi there,
When you spoke to me,you gave me a different impression of which header you wanted,as far as i recall the following was ur priority,
- Ground clearance as ur cars lowered, you stated long tube headers hang lower & will cause scraping issues for you
- Cheapest priced headers for the most power
- heres a re vamp of the advice i gave you
- Firstly, you have to put a budget on the whole pakage
- shorty headers are never gonna give you the performance or the note of a set of longtubes
- If your chasing every last drop of power and plan for further mods,ie: cam, heads etc..long tube tuned headers is what your looking for
- If you dont want the long tubes due to ground clearance, then your next best bet is the tr y's,they will give you better ground clearance,if the tri y's are still a problem due to ground clearance.
- Then your next option is the shorty's
- goddluck with your mods and hope the above helps you make the right choice.
:)

I went with the Genie Tri y's, high flow metallic cats, dual 2 1/2" Xforce system, with an otrcai, and mafless tune. Made 238rwkw. Am very pleased with the performance and sounds awsome too.
