Morning everyone,
I've been trawling through posts and threads for about two weeks now when I signed up. Just took delivery of my VE SV6 ute (I know how I would have loved the SS but it was not to be). I have been through everything and have an understanding of some of the mods are avaliable but most seem to be for the SS and SS-V's (lucky bars@#$ds).
As a complete newbie to mod's and the like I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction of what is possible, if anything, for the SV6 utes?
Its already got a cold air intake put on it (Growler) and the back springs have been lowered. Other than that I have no idea what else is possible and worth doing. Can anything else be done for a bit more power without forking out for a turbocharger or something!!.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm seeing a guy tomorrow about exhaust etc to get his opinion and thanks for the input looks like im heading in right direction (I'm not after V8 power for all those that are wondering just playing around with the v6 ute).

Roller rockers, never heard of them (as Im a newbie to mods) and haven't seen them much on here!! I'll have to look into them

wouldnt of bothered with a growler, u should of saved your money and made your standard air box into a MCAI

diff gears is where your gonna achieve the biggest gain on the alloytecs but you will lose fuel economy (if you care about the l/100 figure)

Can't wait for some pics mate! wat colour is it? At least u can make it look exactly like an ss with the amount of little cosmetic bits and pieces out there. definately extractors and then u can get the computer edited to get the most of the power and economy to be had!

Awesome thread link thanks for that I couldn't find anything like that before!
In regards to growler, yea my mate owed me a favor so he popped one in (i know people going what kind of favor is that) but its better than the standard and will do till I can get something better.

In regards to colour its red hot. No hard lid yet, I'm still tossing up over one they have pro's and con's but there are a few things I want to do before that.

Will post pics up on Monday hopefully once its all been cleaned etc.

Cheers guys

Just a thought tho' 2 months ago when Holden was madly advertising great driveaway deals on the SV6 ute at $32,490.....I walked into a dealer just to look at colours for a Second hand option I was looking at online and left with a $35,000 driveaway deal on an SS M6. I just hope you got a better deal than the sticker price because with only minor mods you want do it will add up to more than the $2,500 difference for the SS. To be honest, I was dumbstruck at the deals once I started looking at new but I understand if you found yourself in the position of not being able to go that little bit more. I was in the same position and couldn't stretch any further to get new so we ended up going S/hand to allow for a Mods budget that will see us under the $35k budget but in an SS.
Good luck with the new ride.

Cheers LM.

I definetly see where your coming from. My situation was I have a VY clubby 04 which now I rarely drive (Partners car now). I just liked the look of the new utes so SV6 gave me the shape. My VY will give me the power if I need a power kick one day. Plus partner had a 25th Anniversary holden I traded in for the ute so just worked out better in the end rather than two fuel guzzling cars.
The mods are just things i'm having run with just to play around with it as being my first VE thought it would be good to find out what can be done for them plus i'd probably have done the same if I had the 35k SS lower it, chuck on a CAI etc all fun little things.
Dream car is the green maloo ute. So maybe in two years time (by then something new will probably be out) I'll get to go through the nice old car cycle again!
I lie dream car is a 1978 corvette stingray. But one thing at a time.
But I definetly get your point LM, if i was a 1 car family and looking for new SS all the way!!!!!

Yeah the SV6 gives you all the looks and you can afford to fill it up AND drive it too! we contemplated it breifly but since ours is a weekend car and Boat tow vehicle, we decided to go all out on the 6.0L. Actually started looking at VY's and just went mental from there.
enjoy the new car fun.

EDIT: to add into the mods suggestions, I found a mob on fleabay that do a set of replacement rear mufflers (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180369467773&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNASIF:AU:1123) for the VE sedan and wagon for $499 delivered....they are yet to do a set for the Utes but are working on it. looks good in shiny bling bling Stainless and sounds ok too. will fit SV6 as they have the same std exhaust already. Then maybe a set of extractors and cats if your looking for more ponies. the std size exhaust tubing seems more than adequate to provide suitable flow for the V6.

Cheers LM.

P.S. $35k D/A was on a ute not a sedan just incase any confusion.
