Thats right good bye to our holden vess and welcome to our new subaru wrx hatch. Its not exactly new but its the next best thing, its a subaru aus vehicle that has 2750klm on the clock and has an extra 2yrs factory warranty that subaru aus is suppling due to it being one of their vehicles.
The reason? well everyone allways likes a new car :) but honestly we were wanting to downsize to a smaller car but most importantly it still had to be quick.
We wont get the car till next week due to the weekend being here and the time frame to sort the paper work out, the bad thing about this is that my wife and the kids are in sydney with me atm in the ss but they are going home tomorow but will have to come back down next week, lucky enough ill still be here.
heres a couple of bad pics.

Been watching too many Ken Block videos
The current model WRX's have grown on me. With the right selection of mags and correct lowering I think they look terrific.

I ended up with $32k trade for the june 07 ve ss manual with 30K on the clock.
Aparently manual ve v8's are hard to come by and thats why the the few grand over the redbook $27-29k they reckon:confused:.
Little turbo brother Tim
Whats better than 1 v8 = 2 v8's, better than 2 v8's = 1 v8 & 1 v8+turbo
So now we have 1 4+turbo & 1 v8+turbo.
Its also cheaper to insure than my ve was:rofl:.
Is it faster than your SS?
Dont know yet but it is pretty punchy.
I can say from the test drive it is quiter on the road than the ve and a whole lot lighter to drive.

Its the my09 model with the 195kw motor Feb 09 manufacture date.
my09 has sti grille, darker metallic grey alloys and factory 195kw.
my09 195kw
my08 169kw

I'd say it's an MY09. I'm sure the slightly different front grille (plastic surround the grille logo) is one of the differences. My bro has an 08 and doesn't have the surround or the 195kw engine :(
Woops thanks Delft..Just beat me to it :)

We normally do all our own financing our selves but seeing as the dealer uses the same company we thought we would let them do it for us but that became a headace like normal so we went and and went direct like we usually do, after talking to the finance company i got a call back less than an hour later saying it was all approved so we called the dealer to let them know they didnt have to bother with their end anymore and all they had to do is provide the finance company with an invoice of sale. We get a phone call back from the dealer at 6:45pm tonight saying they have been on to the finance company and are having the docs shipped straight to them and all we have to do is sign the docs at the dealer tommorow and take the car home then instead.
so this is good news as because of their slow processing we would have had to do the paper work at home next week and make another trip back down to swap cars.
We tried to stress that if this happened it would add another 1000klm's to the speedo, sense prevailed after some pressure :goodjob:.
We were actually looking for an xt forrester(turbo) but these are damn hard to come by s/h and the ones that were around were overpriced for the klm's. go looking for a forrester and go home with a wrx.
Ps forgot to mention the salesman was great, no hassle and pressure what so ever, if anything we had to give him a nudge.

The car was only first rego'd in may and with 2750klm's on it she is still brand new, the ve was due for rego next month aswell.
Cheers mate, it seems like a nice car. The wife will be the first one to really drive it, she has a 400klm trip home to do in it.
ill have to get used to the different drive system again, but it should be fun not to mention alot easier to drive around town.
The only likely mod this thing will get is an exhaust.

They are a great car, I used to own an 07 STi before I traded in for my new SS ute which finally arrived yesterday. They new hatch is an awesome car and very easy to get power out of. First up I would look at a TBE system (HKS does a nice one at the moment), then a CAI (Hypertec is really good for this) and a tune (Unsure where you live but there are plenty of people able to tune it). You should be able to punch out 200awkw... Then next step would be to upgrade the turbo to the spec c sti turbo :)
Have fun with it mate! They are great little cars!

 Thats what I said when I got my STi, after selling my SS and im @ 3" TBE Processwest top mount (awesome bit ok kit too), bigger turbo coilovers and an Autronic SM4 ) and have a PW oil cooler and PW surge tank on the way
gets tuned soon but im not fussed on power levels, more love the different driving experience and the ability to push it hard throught things the commodore would have 360'd and spat me out....

Nice choice of new car. A little birdie told me that the next STi will be a sedan and not hatch. Anyone else heard this??????

Well we signed the contract today and the wife is on her way home, after a few hours into the drive she reported that she was very impressed with how well it handled and quite it was on the shitty country roads, She liked it while passing through the mountains aswell.
I will et to see and drive it on tuesfay when i get home but untill then its hers to enjoy (her car anyway) and beleive it or not my daughters car seat actually fits better in the wrx rear seat than it did in the commodore:rofl:.

work on wrx;s all day and i must say anthing less than a sti isnt worth having imo the 5speed gearboxes are glass boxes build about 1-2 a week and detonation of pistons is very common on non forged bottom ends.....altho saying that if treated right sometimes they are pretty reliable hope u got a good one and as l;onbg as u are happy with it all that matters

Well after the drive home the wife said she was still very impressed with it. My wife hasn't gone through the trip menu's yet but said it used about half a tank for the 400klm trip home, not bad being a 60ltr tank.
The rexy also fits in the garage alot easier than the ss did.
