Nup, stuff auto! I'm not a soft **** like you! :flipoff:

:jester:

A few more pictures that my mate took... Due to his internet being slow he has made them really small :bawl:

I've been looking into some King Springs today and I think I will be lowering it with that for now... A nice set of Ultra Lows + the 19" SSV wheels I have sitting down stairs should make it look a lot better!

Any thoughts on this?

I won't be track racing, it's a daily driver and I want it to sit nice and low... Is there really a need to go for Coil-Overs?

Cheers,
Dan

I don't see the point of running coilovers, expecially for the price of them... I was running coilovers in my rex and I loved them in that because it was a sports car, but I don't want it to be rough again... I had springs in my old VYII SS ute and they were great, so I think I will be going springs again!

Unless there is a good reason for me not to, I just can't justify spending the extra $$ on them.

Gotta love VE utes! :goodjob: I have King SSSL and Monroe short body shocks all round on mine (with 20" rims) and am very happy with the look, ride and comfort. That said I don't push it hard and have never been in a car with coilovers to compare, but for way less than half the price of coilovers I've made the right decision for me.

Thats going to be the same as me... I am not going to be hammering the car around corners... I just want to lower it for looks, not performance. I will be driving the car 5-10km's per day so its not really going to bother me that much.

Is it best to find the wheels that I want first before lowering it?

Personally I can't see any difference in what order you do things but others may be aware of reasons for doing one or the other first. A pic of mine taken a while ago (must get a more recent side on shot). Has probably dropped marginally since then.

So it shouldn't really matter? I am going to ask around and see what suspension shops up here recommend... I hope it doesn't make too much of a difference. I will tell the suspension shops that I will be fitting 20" wheels to the car, which springs would be best for this?

Zeeute just a quick questions did you change the seats in the ute? Because they have the SS stitched into them and the SS V doesnt. Or is this a MY09.5 Change?

As my car is only an SS, I opted for leather as an extra, I couldn't justify spending the extra money to get the SS-V and I got this SS Ute for a really really good price, I couldn't say no to it!

I think its the new SS-V leather pack mate, in the dealership, all the SS-V's that were in there had it on them.

I have already called them... They are asking SO much for just springs  I think the guy that quoted me just started?? I was amazed to hear how much they wanted for a set of springs without fitment or wheel alignment! Back in the day when I got King Springs put into my old SS, it was a hell of a lot cheaper!

I had Coilovers in my VY SS Ute, it made the ride a hell of a lot better, so driveways and speed humps didnt crunch you as much as lowered springs do, the VY felt like the std springs were in it for comfort, so from a comfort perspective, coilovers all the way, if you just want to lower it and happy for a rougher ride then just springs for sure

Hope this helps?

Thanks for that, I used to have Tein Super Street coilovers in my WRX... So I understand how they improve the ride etc. I just can't justify spending the extra as the ride that I had in my old VYII SS Ute with King Springs was fantastic... I'll have to keep thinking about it.

Thanks again mate

If you shop around you should be able to get new Kings for around $250 for all 4 and the Monroe short shocks for ute for $350 or so. Allow around $200 - $250 for fitting and 4 wheel alignment. Given the Kings and Monroes are made to work together I'd be looking at those. If you don't do shockers at the same time then if/when you change your mind later you're up for another $200 or so for fitting, so may as well do them at the same time!

Got some more photos taken last night :) These are decent quality this time!
Let me know what you think. Also today, I just did my first coat of Dodo Lime Prime & Dodo Blue-Velvet Wax. Turned up pretty good... I am going to give it another hit tomorrow though... I think I have a few swirl marks still in it.

Hey everyone,

Quick update. Monday afternoon I picked up a set of SSV wheels from a mate who gave them to me :D Score!!!! So me and another mate picked them up and went back to my house to chuck them on, his is one picture with them on.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2495/3880159297_eaac289bbc.jpg

*Note: I am ordering standard SSV wheel nuts & caps - If anyone has some and want to sell them to me, let me know*

After I put the wheels on, I got over the car looking like a Wheelbarrow. So I called up my mate yesterday at Mermaid Suspension here on the Gold Coast and after a quick discussion he set me up with a set of Tein Super Street Coilovers.

I dropped the ute off their this morning at 8:00am and had it back by 12:30pm... And it looks so much better! I love it! It still extreamly comfortable, and it looks alot better. I couldn't ask for anything more out of the package. Its perfect. I used to have them in my old 2004 WRX STi and I loved them, hence why I opted for them once again.

Enough crappin on, here are some pictures from my friends house - sorry about the quality. I took them with my iPhone:

I will get some better pictures this weekend.

Next up will be the BeeSting Arial which is in the mail. Should be here tomorrow or Friday. Then Tint. Then exhaust, still thinking about going XForce twin 3".

Thanks for looking,
Dan

re springs etc.
when i bought my ute it had pedders fully adjustable coil overs, they were good, but illegal in SA, and apparently are on some other states too. i bought it in vic.
they rode really well, now sitting on stock suspension, going to lower it soon.

for the money, unless using on the track i dont think they are worth it, especially if they are illegal in your state, leaving you liable with no insurance/rego etc. only way to get them passed is with an engineers certificate.:soap:

Teins are 100% ADR approved meaning they are legal, won't void insurance and in my opinion, defiantly worth the $$. Specially when you look at the difference between Shocks, Bumpstops and Springs vs. Coilovers.

Another quick update, recieved the Beesting Arial this morning (Thanks AussieTone - If anyone wants one, shoot him a PM). Plugged it on at work and took a pic.

Saturday morning I picked up a twin 3" xforce cat back in mild steel and fitted it up as soon as I got home :) So good to get a bit of noise out of her. No drone on the highway what so ever. Its fantastic and I am completely happy with it.

Here is a picture of the rear end with the new pipes out the back, I'll get a video up in the week:

Also, this morning I took a trip up to Ziggy's house and picked up one of his fantastic OTRCAI's! It looks to be a fantastic unit, and I have a couple of mates with them who think they are great. Here is a picture of the unit:

Last but not least, the old man picked up an SSV ute last weekend for a steal! Here are a few pictures of it, its a MY10 build, it is lowered, has tow package, tint. The problem is, he has a fantastic merc sitting inside under the carport, which is now never going to be driven :bawl: Just quietly, I think he likes his new SS ute better

Next up I am going to save up for a set of extractors and highflowed cats, unsure on what brand extractors I am going to go yet... Will start doing a bit of research. Can anyone recommend a good set to mate up with the Xforce 3" system?

Thanks for looking, all comments are welcome!

Nice ss ute bud!! If you think having the catback on is good wait til you get the rest of the system on! it'll sound completly different, personally id recommend Difilippo 1 3/4 headers & 3inch cats which is what i have on mine but they're not cheap but John(black Diamond) on here has the xforce stepped headers and cats & twin 3inch m/s catback sounds mint but is wayyy to loud i rekon.

Btw is there any main differences between your's & your old man's MY10 build ss ute?

Its all good mate, because its an xforce system (not much money invested in developing it) they didn't design the rear end very well... Sure if your ride height is stock, who cares. But if you want to lower it, you have to either spend alot of money on a "good quality" exhaust system, or get the rear of the exforce reshaped. I know I will be getting mine reshaped around the diff at some stage so I can drop the rear a few more mm. I like the hight mine is running atm, I have a pretty weird driveway to get into at work and I dunno how much i clear of it lol..

KPM and Manta come to mind...

Iv'e got Teins on my ute aswell. Iv'e got difillipo system though. The coilovers are wound down as far as they can go. No scraping except for the piss flaps. I've got 20 inch rims and no scraping on the tyres either. So the xforce I can't comment on.

Zeeute, your ute is the cleanest ute I've seen in a while. Very well loked after. Good on ya

Hey mate, I would consider the best quality exhaust to be the DiFillipo System. But thats my own personal opinion... Everyone has their own. I used to have Pacemaker 4into1's and twin 3" difillipo exhaust on my VYII SS ute and it sounded porn... I couldn't justify the money again for this car and I think that this is a pretty good system. I am going to get the rear section modified so it goes around the diff instead of under.

I can't comment on those two systems as I have not heard them up here.

20" would help a bit, I only just scrape on places... Once I get around to it, I will get the rear section modified so I can lower her some more... Do you have any pictures of how she sits + a picture of it underneath from the rear? I'm pretty keen to see how she sits! If you wouldn't mind that is :)

Cheers,
Dan

Hey everyone, just a little update and I'm looking for some advise as well. The car is going in on the 4th of Jan for a custom grinde cam (quite big), install my otrcai and tune. Before this happens, I will need to get a set of extractors and hi-flowed cats. Can someone recommend to me what set of extractors I should go to match up to my Xforce Twin 3" ?

Any help would be great.

Thanks a lot,
Dan

I was looking at going for an 07 STi... In fact, I was really close to swapping. But eh. I dunno man

Hey mate, he just has lowered king springs, they are so shit... he hates it... its only a work ute though, so he doesn't really care about it... He has his amg for a nice car... He loves the coilovers in mine, the way they ride and handle.

Hey mate, they aren't springs... Its a coilover system by Tein.

I'm running standard extractors at the moment mate... Doesn't really scrape anywhere except the rear section of the exhaust when I go over massive speedbumps... What extractors are you running? does it scrape badly?
