my son had a 4 point fitted recently when he got new rims, he has super low springs. also at the same time they replaced all the rear end rubbers and shocks.

after about 10,000 the rear are worn almost to the limit. but while working on the diff we noticed right lhs rear tyre had a concave wear to the canvas on the inside shoulder, but even wear from right next to this across, almost like it was rubbing on something, but couldn't find any rub points on the body. usually they wear down from the shoulder 2-3 cm back towards the center of the tyre, but this was level wear across then bang a concave 5mm wear right on the corner. not worn off level on the corner but a concave groove to the canvas. i've seen camber wear before but not like this, only in a 5mm spot he has kumhos on with the wear holes and they show the rest of the tyre as even wear right up to the corner.

the other side showed slight wear in the same place but only about 1/4 as deep as the other side

actually i might take a photo tonight they are off the car atm until he gets new ones

Hi Vt2vx,
There may be seveal reasons for the issue happening. These could range from a bent arm to a simple slipped adjuster.

If your sons cars suspension was done at a Pedders store they will have a record of the alignment figures on the car when it left so it should be fairly easy to check and see if it has changed.

No Pedders outlet would let a car go out with settings that would wear tyres on one side that quickly. So I suggest that you re-visit whoever installed the products and have them check it out for you.

If it was not a Pedders store initially then you can always use a Pedders check as second opinion.

Thanks Scott, it was pedders at kirrawee who have now moved to somewhere in Taren point i believe he had it done just before they moved.

i said go back and ask he seemed a little reluctant he thinks its going to cost him another fortune to go back. i'll tell him just go back for a check that won't cost you much if anything, if the adjuster has slipped then shouldn't cost him anything I guess when its under a year?

both side are worn to just above the normal wear indicators evenly just the left has that horrible groove in it. could be because its low and he carry ppl in the back a lot. i said why don't you go a bit higher in the springs that will help, but he loves the ride height. even so i would expect both sides to be the same wear either way, not one with a canvas groove. so i suspect they are not equal in settings.

Thanks for the info Steve,

I would suggest that providing evrything was OK then the most he would be looking at would be the cost of a 4WA wheel alignment. Slipped adjusters though rare can be caused by many things potholes, speed bumps etc. If the product has failed in some way then it may become a warranty issue.

The first thing your son needs to do is go back to Tarren Point and speak to the stores staff about the problem.

I will also forward a copy of this threads link to the store so they are aware of our discussion.

been meaning to report back on this.

He went in last week and they were very helpful about the situation, was booked in for Monday just gone.

He went on Monday was all check over nothing found except the alignment was out, said to be put out by a pot hole mostly on the LHR side. could have been, but he doesn't recall hitting any on that side.

He told me he did hit one pot hole on the front RHF recently that put a ding in his rim, but none on the left side or on the rear. (i said whats your tyre pressure, 25 psi he said i said you goose you need 40psi with those low profiles to help stop rim damage) but anyway to hit a hole hard enough to move the rear alignment you would think would bend that rim also?

Anyway they were happy to help him out or fix any faulty parts, in the end cost him $100 for a 4 wheel alignment

Thanks for the feedback.
I am glad it turned out to be nothing too significant for him and that the store was able to sort it.

Hi please note the initial information is the same as I posted in your other thread on our forum but have added the costing comments here as well.

Yes that is correct as the later cars have an adjustable toe link and the inner bush is a different size to the outer unlike earlier models.

Rather than fitting an adjustable bush you could have the Pedders 5803 outer bush fitted. This is a specially designed rubber bush that has a camber reducing offset built into it. It is fitted like the OE one and once fitted requires no further adjustment. In addition it retains the NVH benefits of rubber that can be lost when urethane is fitted. This is also benefit when you are fit bigger rims and lower profile tyres that tend reduce ride quality to some degree.

Pricing and Fitting costs will vary depending on which way you go and I always rcommend that you caontact your local Pedders store to discuss costs in particular fitting, as these will vary because we only set guidelines for our stores in regards fitting charges to allow them to be com, petitive in their own markets.
