So, who will win, the heavy 2 tonne VW or the 1.7 tonne Super Nissan?

My money is on the Veyron but by how much.

The Veyron makes the GTR look like a little kids toys :goodjob:
Why do people keep comparing cars to the GTR??? It's truely an incredible machine but the Veyron is probably the best super car we will ever see.. It also costs about 2mil to buy and double that to build.
It's not apples for apples and neither is a ZR1 or an Enzo or any other super car for that matter.

I gather you never watch Top gear and don't enjoy the Power Lap segment. :)
It's about showing the comparison and letting the viewer decide. And also comparing one modern day technical marvel to another modern day technical marvel and in this day and age of modern day technical marvels, having such a huge difference in performance is a modern day technical marvel.

Probably the only car that you can really compare to the Bugatti is the 2008 SSC Ultimate Aero http://www.shelbysupercars.com/car-specs.php. Now that would be a good showdown on any track...

That really shows off the Veyron's straight line advantage even giving away a huge rolling start....

Ryzz, you're a modern day technical marvel. The only person I know of that looks like Ray Romano and can get around the Nurburg quicker than Ray Romanos mum crosses the road to come visit her favorite son. :p

Impressive!
I love the way that Veyron has the synergy to develop impressive power, yet achieve the objective of getting the power to the ground in a scalable way. The methodology of the applied knowledge base has really future-proofed this car and set a new benchmark in the performance car market. When the GTR has the running head start, you can see that the Veyron has mastered the joining of "people-process-technology" to produce something that is more than just lean & mean, It is a tactile example of multidisciplinary objectives, with total quality driven performance resulting in the dysfunctional emotional leakage of all who are lucky enough to drive it.

Very few cars can come close to touching a Veyron - check this vid of an Audi R8 in a roll on against one.

I supose we shouldn't race fast cars against fighter jets either. It's just a bit of fun. If you got give these cars to drive wouldn't you think of any and all reasons to thrash the bjesus out of them.
To quote Jeremy Clarkson... "what we've proved there is that the Bugatti Veyron, which we know to be the fastest car in the world, is faster than another kind of car".
In a straight line, nothing come close to the Veyron.
0-100kph in 2.5
100-200kph in 3-4 seconds
0-400m in 10.2 seconds
But the GTR is 12 seconds faster than the Veron around the Nurburgring.
I reckon the drag race that puts the Veyron up against the 1993 McLaren F1 is a far more interesting comparisson. 15+ years since it was released with practically none on the technology of the Veyron and it doesn't lose by much at all. Not to mention it's also a whole lot sexier than the Veyron! :)

A straight line drag race plays to the Veyron's strength. To be fair, they need to compare cornering ability too. Though that might wipe smiles from some smug faces.
