Nice car Cam.Very tidy looking unit although,and this is only my opinion I prefer the standard SS wheels over the HBD ones.But with only 50k on the clock you've got yourself a good low kay example

Thanks for all the kind words.
I'm looking at replacing the wheels pretty soon with 20s, but am waiting the outcome of these new RTA lowering rules before I do so.
It will happen; All in good time though:)

Nice ride mate mags are different. Nice torque for that power. Mine is 226rwkw and 540nm of torque. The VYII SS are good with torque.

Car looks very clean mate, everythings almost brand new... and with 50k on the clock it's fair enough! The mods done are subtle and classy, and its putting out enough power to keep a big grin on your face every time you change gear :) The interior looks perfect! Here's my Question... are you going to keep the wing?

Thanks mate,
I've never actually considered taking it off. I might take it off every now and then once I get the 20s and lower it but I think I'll keep it on pretty much the life of the car.

What about taking the commodore and series II badges off?
jonesy_87_
12-09-2009, 03:30 PM
Yeah mate, thinking about taking it off.
Though I'd prob leave the Series 2 on it if I left the SS on it.
Other option was to take off every badge on the rear and only leave the SS on the sideskirts.

Thanks mate,
I'm pretty sure they are just SL King Springs on all 4 corners, but the rear ones are HD.
Wouldn't mind going lower in the rear, but I like how it doesn't scrape on everything. Haha.

You should be heaps happy once you get the headers and cats!

Well I justified it. Lol.
Car is going to CHE next week for a cam + clutch package.
* 228/230 size cam, with all the usual parts (UDP, upgraded valve springs, etc)
* Direct Clutch with flywheel, braided clutch line, new thrust bearing, etc.
Expecting anywhere from 275-295ish atw.

Is it a daily driver? You can get that kind of rwkw from smaller cams with the stock heads and a good tuner. The big cams start to be restricted by the stock heads, so a smaller cam is more suited and can still make great power.

Its only a weekender man. Pretty much drive it Saturday and Sunday and once every while during the week.
I think I should get a good result once it's all done.

It'll light up 1st and 2nd gear no worries at all. If I roll on at say 50k's in second and nail it, it'll be sideways up the street. At the drags it wheelspins into 3rd and 4th gear.

CHE Custom 228/230 Cam with a dual valve spring kit and all the other usual parts (UDP, crank seal, etc, etc.)
Also had a Direct Clutch kit put in with braided clutch line and a lightened flywheel.

Cheers mate. You'd have a fair bit of torque with the heads? Wouldn't mind putting a twin 3" on it and doing the heads, but not for a while.
Time to stop spending money on it and save a bit.
Absolutely loving the cam. Lumpy and shaky at the lights and goes hard all the way to redline.
Had a comment from a random bloke on how tough it sounded.

The result of a cracked slave cylinder. Cracked my stock one.
Big ups to CHE; Called them up and they gave me some ideas to limp it down to the workshop, had no luck with that so they gave me the number of a towie they used and he was there within 20 minutes. Had the car towed down there and they managed to replace it all and get it up and running within an hour or so. Its now got an AP slave cylinder in it.

Must say would love some gauges for it, but atm can't justify the $$$ on it.
Slowed down on the spending of it;
Just little things atm;
* Rolling guards to get some SSL under the rear
* Custom plates fairly soon

Haha, I only really removed it to give the boot a good wax because under the spoiler is normally missed.

Yeah I'm even surprised how quick it was haha. My mate said he had it ready to go so I got him to fit it yesterday.
The dual 2.5" sold pretty quickly. Dropping it off on Friday :)
Great ride.... what size are those rims?
Also i was wondering ( With your permission of course) could anyone photoshop your car so that its paint colour is Cosmo Purple... id love to see how these rims would suit my car

The rims are 19" x 8.5" with 245/35/19 tread. Never had a problem with scrubbing or anything like that. Had the car loaded up on the weekend and had my exhaust sparking on the freeway and the tyres were sweet. Lol.
Yeah thats fine, photoshop away ;)
Cheers.
