Did you mean CANT, basha?

Nomally an ls1 stroker kit will go to about 383ci, prostroke in aus do a kit that does go to 393 or something. If you re-sleeve your block it is possible to go bigger.
Nearlly all 400+cu stroker kits require a 6ltr block as a base to star with and i bet you'll find the COME kit is the same.

I'm pretty sure C.O.M.E Racing were selling 408ci short blocks complete just recently for around $6500 from memory but I could be wrong.

Iron or alloy? Sounds cheaper than having the work done yourself. Can anyone comment on the quality/strength of the engines?

I would think iron Blocks if they are 408ci?

you can get both but i highly doubt an alloy block would be that cheap.
I have heard some good things about their holden 5ltr stuff but not much good about the ls1 gear, cams wearing down lobes, poor durability in general, but you tend to only hear the bad things not the good things.

I had a quick look at their site, and they offer solid lifters and cams to suit for $500 bucks. I can't imagine that the quality could be that great for that money, and I imagine that the solid lifters would wear the cam a fair bit quicker too.

Sorry to hijack, but i have been doing some searching and speaking to mates about strokers just for the hell of it, and you can get kits for around 5k, maybe bit less, depending on quality, etc etc.

Anyway what else would be needed to accompany the kit? im guessing cam bearings and full gasket kit, as youd want to renew most parts, would you need new lifters aswell? What else would be needed? if say already had cam, oil pump, timing chain and springs.

Also if the work was carried out yourself it seems cheaper than putting in a 6L, as you'd have a tough built stroker and wouldnt you need a engineers cert for the crate engine? thanks, sorry for all the questions

You could pick up a good quality complete 383 stroker kit from the states 2.5k delivered. This is what i'm in the process of sorting out with prices/funds etc.

You are right in the fact also that you will need to also pick up a cam, springs, rr's, gaskets, bolts, dbl row chain, injectors etc etc and also should modify the block/oil pump so as the stock ones are shit for being able to supply oil etc. You basically need to build the engine from scratch using only the block/heads if you want to build something reliable but dont expect too much change from 10k.

yeh the kits are cheaps, its just everything else, would you need new rockers tho? most people already have cam and chain and springs, are you gonna really need to modify the oil galleries? and what about lifters? would definately need injectors, would the stock ls1 heads b fine or would they need to be upgraded aswell?
