Well just picked up the car from having the Pedders XA adjustable coilovers and a complete 'rebush' of the car done.

Only driven it about 10km from the Pedders shop to home in stop start traffic but the difference is amazing.

I will leave a full write up till i get out 2moro on the Old pacific hwy up to Gosford and give it a real hard punt. For the moment but i have noticed 2 very good improvements. Firstly under hard braking the front end no longer dives like a submarine and the cars pulls up a lot better. And secondly when taking off hard in 1st gear you get a loss less diff chatter from the back and less inclined to throw itself sideways.

Anyway will throw it at some decent flowing corners 2moro and see how it goes but no doubt i will come away very happy.

It is set to 20 clicks front and back as i said i don't mind a firm ride. Will try that setting on the way up to Gosford. I can always adjust for the way home.

Next step is the adjustable swaybars.

Pretty happy now with how my car has come together and all the mods. Definitely have to get it out to the track again and try it out.

Thanks to the guys at Pedders Granville. Good job :goodjob:

cheers
Dave

Hi Veeate,
Thanks for your quick feedback.
I know Con and the team at Granville will appreciate your comments. We look forward to hearing back from you after your Gosford run tomorrow.

The best advice I can give regarding Extremes XA's is to spend the time tweaking the settings until it feels right. From my experience you will know when you have it right because all of a sudden you realise you have stopped thinking about the suspension as the car is just doing what you want it to.

Then all you have to do is "ENJOY"

Scott

Thanks Scott.

Look forward to playing with the settings.

It is a shame i don't have a baseline time from my track days. Would love to know what sort of benefit i can expect in lap time from these XA's ?

Anyone on here done some serious laps on these XA's ? What sort of settings did you use ? I guess things like what brakes and tyres you run will have a big impact on what stiffness you can run.

cheers

Just back from Gosford and a great day it was for a fang up the old rd.

In summary i reckon this is the single best mod i have done to the car so far. While i know most people here prefer 1/4 mile stuff for those like me who prefer a good piece of twisty road and a race track then i reckon decent suspension is just such a huge change to the whole balance and performance of the car.

I left the car as i got it from Pedders (20 clicks front and rear) for the trip up there. While no doubt stiffer all round and very noticeable i actually didn't mind the ride quality on our sh*tty roads. I could certainly live with it.

The first part of the old rd is recently resurfaced and is billiard table smooth. The car on this section was just superb. When we got to the more bumby sections you certainly hit the bumps harder than the standard car but it also settled itself a lot quicker. But at speed the bumps can certainly give you a fright. You need to be careful or the rear can easily break away on a big bump mid corner.

On the way back i went 15 front and 10 rear. Def noticed the front wasn't as stiff but the rear was probably more settled on the bumpy stuff.

Will keep playing with it but i guess i am leaning towards say 18 front and 15 rear.

Overall, no matter what the settings, i noticed the following compared to my standard suspension:-

- initial turn in is crisp and accurate. The understeer of old has gone and so is the shake on the steering wheel when you hit the understeer. This for me is the single biggest improvement i was after. To get round corners i didn't need to saw at the wheel. I could hold my hands at one position and use the throttle to control the car. Braking into the corner is also so much better. Finally i reckon my 6 piston brakes are doing their job. No longer does it dive under brakes. I actually feel like the rear is doing some form of braking rather than 1700kg of car all leaning on the front brakes.

- apex speed is much higher. On the high speed sweepers it is so calm. On the slow speed stuff you can actually get it braked and to turn in.

- ability to get on the power earlier and control your exit with the throttle rather than saw at the steering wheel which just slows your exit.

- the rear end no longer feels disconnected from the front. Before the rear just wanted to roll over and the car just leaned on the outside front tyre. So much better balanced now. You can actually feel what the car is doing. It brakes better and changes direction so much better. There is tricky corner that you apex just about on the rev limit at 3rd gear. Never been confident enough to change up to 4th with steering lock on as you exit since i could never take one hand off the wheel to change up. But today i could do it because the car would hold the one line.

Enough of my ravings for now. Very very happy.

Now to take it to the track.

cheers
Dave

Once again,
Thank you for taking the time to provide such a detailed report on your new ExtremAX's. It one thing for us to keep telling everyone how good it but reports like yours really drive(pardon the pun) the point home.

I know that all the staff here really enjoy the feedback as it makes them really aware that the effort put into the product is appreciated by the marketplace.
