My Ve Calais is getting an upgrade, winmalee is building me a 408 stroker from my old L98 Block, and i am adding an M6 T56 ,i need my car to go back to being a true daily and reliable is paramount,i think it will be kind of cool to have an M6 in a calais,
i dont really care about the power numbers because i feel it will have plenty,if i had to guess i would say 300 would be a good number, small cam, and l98 heads cnc'ed yella 1.7 rockers, pat extreme springs, compstar crank(made by Callies to be politiclly correct) manly pistons,Ls7 lifters, twin timing chain, and i got hold of a nice edelbrok split timing cover, bit of a wank but looks tops,i will add a dus otr,so motor should be strong,
i am missing a few bits which i will rob from the motor from my ssv ute, then sell the short block to a guy who will move it into a HQ GTS,
Will is doing this build over next month while im away at work,i will upgrade the clutch once the stock one fails, i have heard from many they are a peice of dudu, but i cant see more value in it than in my car, someone told me most shops throw them in the bin ????? are they this bad,
i am looking at a twin ceramic fidenza clutch kit as next upgrade, anyone had one of these?
i will add decent brakes, and have the suspension tightened up by wholesale suspension while the car is in sydney,
i will get some pics done while the build is taking place,
cheers paul

after 20 months of spirited driving i have replaced front wheel bearing, and rear wheel bearing, rear CV Boot ,
suspension modded by Wholesale Penrith, typical mods including bushes, rear trailing arms, car has nice feel Ride Height is about 10MM less than standard
Brakes (Brembo fronts /Standard Rears however i have upgraded rear Pads to Hawks,
all these mods have been done,
while i await the following mods to be done
Fidanza Clutch, here is a speil about them, spoke to a few US guys who just said as daily they rock, and a few had switched from ZGrip
Fidanza twin disc clutch kits are designed to hold up to 800 hp. They achieve this by using state-of-the-art materials and incredible designs. Pedal feel is virtually unchanged and engagement is as smooth as single disc units. Fidanza twin disc clutch kits use a floater plate that is strapped to eliminate the annoying rattle. With only an 8 3/4 in. diameter, the rotating mass has been kept to a minimum to further improve performance. The included pressure plate, two discs, and performance flywheel make the Fidanza twin disc clutch kits the best choice for your high-horsepower street vehicle. i have driven a few cars with Tex and to be honest as a daily driver in traffic they are not desireable, i will put one in the ute as it will be a track car.
FAST 102 Manifold and 102 TB wil be added, will be posted on 19th sept according to Comp
Elite Catch Can ( once they arrive )
as well i will add the Chevy Rocker Covers and relocate my Coil packs,
current power is 350RWKW and the driveability of the car is awesome,as far as im concerned NA shits on FI, this is my opinion more than likely not shared by some, but it you dont want more then 400rwkw then N/A is easy to acheive.
once thse last mods are done the car,it will then be a daily driver with the twice a year to the strip for some fun.(maybe the 2010 Nats)
the build has been done by Winmalee Car Care , people ask me why i choose to go to NSW to do mods? same reason people go to Sonny and Sams, because they make you feel comfortable, as i love to drive , and i work in china its easy for me to scoot down the freeway to winmalee then fly off, and fly back into syd to pick up car so its no biggy really,
going to M6 has allowed me to keep this car and not trade it for a Senator which would have been the plan, however i have everything a senator has (bar bumpers) and much much more.
the donor parts came from a SSV UTE i bought to turn into a track car,
once Calais is done i will post a build of UTE,
at a glance it will be NA 440 / M6 / cage / 6/4 APs/18s/ lots of weight gone, full track suspension.and full QLD rego.
cheers paul
