hey kurt i got my P's a few months before all the bullshit came in. im un-restricted whereas the new p platers cant have a turbo, v8 or cars over a certain power output. i also dont have to show plates :yahoo:

couple of updates, last week took her out to willowbank to get a stock time. managed 14.5 @ 101mph with a 2.3 60 footer. so defiantly gottta get the launch better. anyway got it back today with a set of pacemaker 4-1's, 100cpsi high flow cats, and 3 inch pipework to the twin 2.5" catback. will leave it as is now until it starts choking it

tonight also purchased an OTR off a forum member, so just gotta book her in for a maffless tune and watch that ET drop!!!

ages ago bought an otr, test fitted it but it fouled on my bonnet. So sold that. When closing the bonnet i cracked the radiator. Joy. So put a new rad in. Bought a set of heads and throttle body, so saving madly for cam. Waiting on selling a fridge i have and will get a ziggy otr and take it to hitorque to tune. Least i got the dart heads cheap with valve springs, so its save mode now. Also is there any reason i cant throw heads on before i do cam?

can anybody answer this?

can anybody answer this??

Your going to need a tune when the cam goes in anyway so I wouldnt bother putting on the heads yet.

Throw on the OTR if your keen but IMO wait until the cam is going in and get it all put on and tuned at one time to save coin.

You could go a mail order in the mean time if you think it will be a while before the cam is put in. That way your only wasting $300-600 rather than a full custom tune cost

kurt27
10-10-2009, 08:10 AM
full custom tune only 660 anyway, gonna put on heads and see how she runs regarding pinging/detonation. hoping it will be ok with the comp. will see anyway. thinking about getting cam real soon and getting it in, just hate having a mortage lol

nice ute mate, yeah it sucks when all your car money goes into your mortgagae. i got one when i was 18 definately stops you spending money on stupid things, makes you save and plan your mods well for me anyway.

few small updates. gave her a bit of treatment, clay bar and a polish. come up great, unfortunatly camera phone cant pick up the depth like the eye can. painted brake calipers red, and bolted up an 80mm throttle body. makes the car funner to drive and real responsive. set of dart heads arrived a while back, and a DUS otr which is being fitted and tuned next monday by the lads at HITORQUE.
missioned it out to willowbank sat arvo to find out it was canned :bawl: so looks like ill go next wednesday after tune, cant wait to run it again, so much fun :smilesandbanana:

How did your Dus OTR go ? Did it rub on the bonnet anywhere and what sort of price are they ? Would be interested in a photo of the fit and to know if there were any problems fitting ?

kurt27
08-11-2009, 03:43 PM
mate i bought it second hand from this forum for 500 delivered, was the monaro one, so basically sits lower to accomodate for the nostrals in the bonnet. hi-torque fitted it as i could not drive it with it on to the shop, but i had a dummy fit and also when i got it home from fitment i couldnt see any cutting, cept for the tab on the back of the thermos, which i previously had cut off. they give you instructions for fitment with the otr.

found that on long drives the bonnet underlay would sorta melt and leave shit on the otr, so i ripped that off, other than that no clearence issues at all. very happy with the product, now want to paint it properly lol

Yeh , looks like a bit of a rub mark in the centre on top there ? Geez I wish someone would make one that would clear under the bonnet properly !!!

Very nice ride Mate, I had a VY SS Series II Ute in red, with a set of 19's on it from Tempe Tyres, hard top, twin 2.5 exhaust with extractors, loved it, but sadly it went to Heaven... Just recently got myself a VZ SS Series I Ute in silver, hard top, leather trim, standard SS 17's and Chev grill, looking to upgrade to 19's and throw a new exhaust on same as what I had on the VY SS and also replace the Chev badge on the grill with a gold badge and also a gold badge on the tail gate.

Awesome car mate, I had alot of fun in my old VY SS Ute.

long time since i have updated this.
after tune it made 395hp at the treads, will try post up dyno graph. stock cat back really kills it up top. upping the compression to 11:1 really made such a huge differance to the bottom end!!!
the thing is an animal defiantly pulls pretty hard
havnt been out to willowbank as the clutch keeps letting go but if all goes well i should have a mal wood option 3+ in the next few weeks, and ill drop the box off to get new synchros :bawl:

so hopefully embrace some of this cold weather at willowbank soon

then its off to get 4.11s purely for drivability

cheers rosey

got a tex z grip in her now, took her down willowbank. managed a 12.4 @ 115mph with a 2.02 60 footer

ran 12.4 @ 111mph with a 1.8 60 footer, but missed 4th haha. woulda been the low 12 i was chasing

cant wait to go out again, defiantly want diff gears next :goodjob:
