Hi all, I'm after some opinions on differences between press bent and mandrel bent exhausts.

1. When getting an exhaust put on a ecotec v6 would there be any loss of potential power if getting a press bent system rather than mandrel (especially if its a dual system).

2. Does the type of bend have any noticeable effect on exhaust note?

Thanks
Luke

technically the bend will have an effect, but most of the better systems are mandrel bent (pacemaker).

for ecotec you are best with a 1 and 1/2" primary to a twin 2" all the way through, or twin 2" to a single 2.5".

VY SS catbacks are great and cheap for an ecotec, while maintaining a bit of quiet :D (can be changed to a bit louder easily).

I have VY ss exhaust cheap if interested.

From the few exhaust shops I spoke to a while back all pretty much said stick with press bent systems unless your about to get serious with your motor, basically for the average 6 cyl or even mild V8 there is no point forking out the extra however someone can correct me on this

if you do your shopping right the system will be mandrel bent anyway, most off the shelf systems are. I have found that some exhaust shops only say that because they dont have a mandrel bender or cant be bothered welding it all together.

Luke for a given size, the mandrel bent pipe flows more. Press bent pipe can lose up to a quarter of its inside diameter depending on the bend radius/bender. Mandrel also looks better.
