The technology will be handy to tame the Falcon's 195kW and whopping 391Nm of torque. The power is the same as Holden's high-output six-cylinder engine but it has 51Nm more torque than the Commodore. You can feel the difference.
According to our satellite assisted timing gear the base model Falcon ute stopped the clocks in 6.9 seconds in our 0 to 100kmh test, and the best we could squeeze out of the Omega was 8.5 seconds.
Incredibly, the Falcon uses slightly less fuel, according to the rating label on the windscreen. In the real world, though, the Falcon was thirstier in our assessment, using closer to 14L/100km and the Commodore closer to 12L/100km.
Jesus, my FG turbo does 14L/100km! FG utes (in base form) may have more power, but they can't hold a candle to VE in terms of sex appeal.

Guess the problem with this comparison is they are talking about 6 cyl versions..........:spew: Why bother? Those fuel consumption rates are right up there with V8,s so why even contemplate going a 6 in the first place? Just like when the dealer tried to sell me a sv6 instead of the ss because of the 1200 to 1700kms a week I drive, he thought that it would be much easier on the fuel bill..........he may as well have been talking to a brick wall, I guess the blank look then bursting out with laughter made him see the light!

Excuse me?
If you don't want me to post up interesting articles, I won't. I just thought it was interesting reading.
Sorry if I've offended anyone but if nobody wants to read any of these articles, it's game over from me!

Thanks Ghia351. :)
To be honest, I didn't know the outcome of the test before I posted it. I was responding to bigdogdazza's post where he thought is was a waste of time comparing the 6s.
I thought it was interesting, a pity not all did.

I recently driven a SV6 ute had to be one of the nicest car based utes I have driven.. Not taking anything away from Ford because they can take a better load due to the rear suspension.
I think they are both great utes it depends on what you want really.
I own both a FG XT Falcon and a VE Calais V8 both great cars I think but the Calais is more fun and more plush whilst the Falcon XT is a great rep car I just wished it had the ZF 6 speed auto. ;)

Although why doesn't someone make an IRS one tonner. I have a VW with a basic IRS that can carry one tonne easily, in fact I've had a full 1000L IBC in the back sitting centred over the rear axle line many a time.
PS, for the extra cost of the ZF you don't really gain that much over the stock A5, sure it's better but if it wasn't standard I would struggle to justify the extra if on a tight budget.
