Hi guys I thought I would get some advice straight from the horses mouth so to speak. I have 20 inch 235/35 wheels and tyres on my VZ SS, I have had all the guards rolled, also it has been lowered 15mm all round using a pedders spring, the black not the red. however I kept the standard shock, when I load up the car I get scrubbing out at the rears on some uneven road surfaces. My question is would going to a stiffer shock ie a (sports ryder) remedy this.

Hi Mick,
First thing to do is get your car checked out by a Pedders store as we do not sell "black" coils. Pedders coils are "grey or red". Once they have had a look at your car they can ascertain if it is a coil or a shock issue. It may also be a wheel issue if they are aftermarket rims and have an incorrect offset.

Cheers Scott, thanks for the reply. My bad they are the grey touring spring, and my wheels are lenso 20 8.5 LS33. Can you fit a 225 on that rim.

Tyres are our area so I can't advise on your 225 question. I am relieved to hear that you had Grey and not black coils though.

The wheel issue is more the offset than the tyre, if the offset is pushing the rim out too far from the hub then the likelyhood of body contact is increased.

You need to remember that when designed a cars O.E. wheel & tyre combinations are able to completely clear all body areas at full compression. (EG if you took out the springs and lowered it onto the bumpstops they should not foul anything. )

What causes the grief is when people put much larger wheels & tyres onto cars that were simply not designed to accomodate them. Even if they are similar in size to the O.E., often the manafacturer changes the wheel offset causing a whole new range of problems for both clearance and somethins the cars handling.

Hi Scott,

As promised I am getting back to re my scrubbing out problems on my VZ SS, I visited my local Pedders shop, (Tuncurry) and discussed the option's to fixing the problem, we decided on placing inside the touring spring some polyair air bags, thus being able to adjust the height of the spring depending on load. Problem solved. Finally I want to say how happy I was with the professionalism helpfulness of Mark and David at Pedder's Tuncurry.:goodjob:

Hi Mick,
Thanks for the feedback on both the problem and the level of service.
It is great to get "Positive feedback" as often once an issue has been resolved we never hear back about it.
I will pass on your comments to the store as well.
Thanks again
Scott
