Hi All,
Thought i'd post a couple of pics of my Calais.
Plan to add 19" VY Signatures, SL Kings and maybe exhaust/air box mod.
Further down the track In dash DVD, headrests and full system.
Cheers,
Jay

Another Silver VZ on the forum! haha nicely done mate... looks awesome, and your plans are exactly the same as what i had in mind with my car... As mine stands it has 19" VY sigs, and a catback exhaust.. held off with lowering cos of camber dramas... can't wait to see what a silver calais will look like with senators.. well done again buddy.. http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=118991&highlight=calais190 - theres mine, have a look and see if u like the rims on it.. cheers

That's sweet as mate. Really like the twin exhaust too.
Was tossing up between the sigs and vy gts but i think i'll stick with the sigs coz of the similarity to the originals. Lowering is a concern for me too but should be OK if i do it right, ie camber kit. I do roughly 700K per week just to and from work (Cranbourne to Laverton) so they'll soon chew out if i don't get it right.
I'll keep u posted with any updates...
Cheers,
Jay

Yeah exactly my problem too mate.. im doing 500k a week without fail, with negative camber and a out of whack toe, tyres will only last weeks!.. Silvers a heaps nice colour on the calais', they look very classy.... And yeah that's the same reason i went with the VYs, the originals are bloody similar and they suit it perfectly! let me know what happens when you lower it etc! but for now, enjoy the drive mate!
sweet ride dude.... i have the MY05 calais in the same colour, so treat it well. get some dark dark tinted windows, and you're sweet :-)
edit: also. what did u pick it up for man?

Picked it up for just under 27K drive away. Only had 28K on the clock too.
Already done 16K since late Feb so the LPG was a worthwhile investment....
Cheers,

nice car and all, and theres no easy way to say this, but 27k, for a vz calais, well...you got ripped off. that price will very comfortably get you a vy / vz hsv and even a fully equipped vz ss, which is practically the same as the calais
anyways, throw up some pics when you get any new mods done :xmas:

Each to their own i guess kpop.
I still beleive it was a good buy.
At the time there wasn't many Calais around, and i definitely wanted a VZ V6.
This was the best example that i found, and was the best value of ALL that i looked at. Everything else had around 70K on the clock and where nowhere near as clean.

Nice clean calais you have there and the LPG will definately help with those K's you drive.
VY sigs always look good on these, Calais are always a good starting point for any mods.
i thought it wasnt possible to put the alloytec on gas, or that the manual even recomended that you dont
if you do mainly freeway driving, then youll find the alloytec to be pretty good.
with mine, sitting on 103kph at 2200rpm (3.45 gears) my screen shows a actual usage of 6.8 liters per 100 km

From the pics you bought from a car yard and for a VZ Calais with only 28,000K is practically impossible to find, so any yard would be asking about that price, many VZ's have 100,000 Km on them now. If you want a good exceptionally low km car you will pay more than average for the model. About 6 months ago I bought a '02 VXII Calais Delft blue, 54,000 Km sunroof, leather, and 5.7 - $15,000, I know I paid more than the average VX Calais is worth, but I like a good low km car. I wouldn't have even bothered buying a VX with well over 100,000 Km as most of them have. You get what you pay for.

You need to have a sequential vapour injection system to run the 3.6 on LPG.
The cars starts and gets to operating temp on petrol, then switches cylinder by cylinder to LPG. You don't even notice the difference. The computer is then 'tricked' into believing that it is running on petrol. I too was concerned as i had heard the same but spoke to a few people. One of which runs 2 x 3.6L statesman limo's with the same system i got (tartarini) and has clocked up over 200K in each with no problems at all.
Factory warranty is still valid also unless the fault is a direct result of the lpg conversion.
From memory the trip comp shows average consumption of around 9.3L/100km.
is much power lost using a 'sequential vapour injection system', as in, in everyday driving, will the car feel sluggish
and how much does this type of system cost? too bad you just missed the government rebate cutoff date, i think a few weeks ago they were paying upto 80% of the cost on an LPG conversion

Honestly don't notice the power loss. Have had it in since March and still hasn't been re tuned since install but that's getting done next week. Apparently on an LS2 running the same system, tuned for petrol, you get an extra 12kw. Not sure how true this is though.
Ended up costing $3800 less the 2k grant. I can give you the guy's details if you like, depending on where you are. He's in Lynbrook.
