the engine got fired up today, there was quite a few mods that had to be done to the radiator fans and shroud to get them to fit with the 50mm gilmer drive and they have had to get the di-filippo tail pipes modified to fit around the harrop diff cover, but it should be all ready for tuning tomorrow:goodjob:

Look forward to seeing your results once tuned ..
Just be careful with you blow off valve pumping expelled hot air onto your belt like that ... It looks awfully close in the pic ? could cause problems ! I no when i ran my smaller vortech race valve in the same position but with the vent facing the back of my front light it melted the plastic cover in no time at all ! you would be amazed on how hot the air is ......

Ray,

I went down to the track with my 500rwkw, slicks and front runners thinking I should be able to easily get into the 10's! WRONG!! The best I could do was an 11.2@128mp/h! Coilovers are absolutely useless for drag racing and so are brand new clutches! Because of our extreme humidity we allow 1/2 a second grace so even then I'd be in the high 10's, not low ones as I would've thought.

The best advice I can give you is ask as many questions from the experienced drivers as possible :)

Just try and relax I guess, if you've got a few people there with you they'll be getting you to try a million different things every time you come back up that return road lol. (with a car like yours it will draw a decent crowd)

Something that helps me concentrate is to let the tree go down and let the other car go, now you have no other distractions and its easier to dial up whatever revs and practice your clutch technique.

It will definitely be interesting to see how you go as most people have their first time on the strip in moderate powered cars, whereas yours is making spastic power lol.

Just have fun and don't expect too much, sounds like you have everything suitably beefed up. Good luck ray

just ignore the other car, concentrate on what your doing is the advice i would offer. i find if i dont go out there wanting to run decent times i usually go close to the pb but if i take it to seriously i end up missing gears or cant get under a 2sec 60foot. Just tackle it as a bit of fun till you get the hang of it

thanks mate,,,,its much the same as your V2 just on a much bigger scale, it goes well from low rev's but thats cause its stroked, the boost is linear so its not like you've got nothing then heaps of boost, but once you get it hook up it pulls really hard all the way to 7,000rpm, 3rd gear is its sweet gear the power just does not stop, when i first got the new engine i used to back off in 3rd before it would , even now i have to go easy on the throttle in 3rd until it hooks up and then its hold on:)

Awesome Ray, thats heaps of power! Care to elaborate on whats holding you back or is that between Mark, Shaun and yourself? :)

thanks rosey,, no secret mate but i'm just going to do a few tests and see what i come up with...
supercharger intake, cats, piping size etc, boost before intercooler,
we're making the power easy at only 6,500rpm now and it starts to drop off where as before the boost upgrade it made power all the way to 7,000rpm, so at the moment its making more power and easier on the engine, if i can get it making power all the way to 7,000 we should see 800 easy

30 tooth on the blower and i think 74 on the crank, aparently thats as hard as i can spin the blower,, not making any more boost after 6700rpm, its going back on the dyno next week so we will check it out

Something doesn't sound right...

Formula -

RPM x INTERNAL GEAR RATIO x ENGINE PULLEY SIZE
SUPERCHARGER PULLEY SIZE

= Impeller Speed

V7 Ysi max 65,000rpm but peak efficiency is at 60,000rpm

V7 Ysi - Standard internal gear ratio is 3.45

Mine is Holden V8 (non ls1) and have 78 teeth on crank pulley !

well done mate thats some good power,,,,, i know where you are coming from with temp issues around town though mine was fine on the highway,,, i have been trying to sort mine out for 2years and it seems to be finally fixed,,, i hope,, well when i drove to brisbane for cruise for charity a month ago i was stuck in a peak hour traffic jam in the middle of a hot day for about an hour+ and the temp only just went over half way which i pretty good, it used to get right up near the red and the alarm would come on....
heres some things i tried that did that did stuff all to the temp so hopefully save you the expence,,, programmed fans to cut in earlier, colder t'stat, new water pump,vz radiator fans, some cool down fluid mixed with radiator coolant, deflector plate mounted between bottom of radiator support panel and front bar section to direct air flow through radiator, new radiator, engine oil cooler and it still got hot around town,,,,,,,,,, this is the set up i have now,,, new 15lb radiator cap (i have an after market tank),made a bracket to hold the fan shroud top edge on the radiator as there used to be a 10mm+ gap and i modified a thermo fan to fit in front of the intercooler with a temp switch in the head to cut it in and out and since i did these changes it seems to be good,,,, i am also using stock vy fans now, stock t'stat, still have the oil cooler and deflector fitted,,,,,, i'm guessing you have all ready checked the basics like fans cutting in etc,, hope that helps you out mate
