Yeh $1k isn't much coin until you go to neg a price. Bet they wont be negotiating far on the Special unlike the std VE.
I would say a fair bet of $4-5k difference between neg prices once you finish.
Would be interested to know if somebody has done this at the same dealer.

Hi carby thats exactly what happened with my experiance.

I purchased a My10 SSV standard back in June, meanwhile whilst i was waiting for my delivery the details about the special edition started emerging.

So in August I told my dealer i wanted to swap my standard vehicle for the G8SSV, his reply was no problems at all but it will cost you a 7k changeover-- from 42k -49k drive away. :soap:

He made it clear that he would not discount the vehicle as they only had a very limited number for sale. End result is I lost $500 bucks deposit :flipoff:

I did however end up securing my G8 ute with another dealer...and although i got the G8 for under $43k...i am very confident in saying that I could have picked up the Standard edition vehicle for about 40k.

I have since been told that the dealers have now firmed up their flexibility with the limited edition since the public press release.... would be interesting to know what people are paying for these now.

but they are HSvs i think as you can see the E flute in the front gard but they must go out with the g8 bottom bar to get replaced by the hsv one ??
the two blue ones might be real pontaic fronts debadged ??

Interesting that first G8 does not have standard SSV rims, are these HSV rims?

The second pic of the blue G8 has a blue dash..... the only options available on the special edition is Onyx, so not sure what these vehicles are.

Yep, they used to go with a holden front bar but im guessing they dont fit anymore given they have put the pontiac bonnet on.
So they get to HSV and they replace it with the E2 front bar.
They do the same with the Maloo's... replace the SSV tailgate (thats why theres so many for sale on NVU).

AHHHHH, so THAT'S where all of the "special edition" pontiac front bars are coming from, HSV take them off and give them to Holden haha

I dont understand the "American Reject" label though, this Pontiac has been the most sucessful Pontiac for many years.... unfortunately it would seem it has all come a little too late for Pontiac. :confused:

I cant wait for mine to be delivered, one things for sure it will distinctively look different from an SV6, SS and standard SSV... although I do like the look of the standard VE S range, there,s thousands driving around....it will sort of be nice not being the same as the car next to me at the traffic lights. :xmas:

Nope that the first car with the white stripes, that has projector lights, but a blue dash and no side reflectors on the front bar.

Several places in Aus have been selling G8 kits for a while, for over $3000 fitted I understand.
Prices will be much better once the parts are readily available in Aus from dealers.

Even if they are genuine parts, they are not the G8_SSV special editions.

For everyone who has ordered 1, no one has received them, as we have only built a handful.

The cars in our holding yard with matt black G8 front bars and yellow stockies, are HSV's. We have to send them to VIC like that, as the bonnets will not close without the G8 front bar....once at HSV, they change all that over.

There is NO special badges on them either, from what ive seen. No Holden badge on front bar(no room)

G8 SSV Specs,
G8 front facia(obviously),chrome weather strips around the windows, like our calais's, chrome strip above the rear number plate (also like calais) Calais_V boot lip spoiler...the rest is SSV spec.

I'm sure the UTE does "NOT" get the chrome trim mate.

Nothing to signify its a special edition that ive seen.When i see the next one, i'll double check under the hood...i know there is nothing inside to signify it either.

These 'Limited Editions' are simply using up excess stock left over from the cancelling of the G8. I doubt they are having bars etc made up for this purpose.

Perhaps this thread came continue going round and round in circles for another month or two...
These are locally made parts by Holden, not an outside supplier with a contract for minimum supply levels. Since all manufacturers work to the "just in time" principal, visions of a warehouse full of hundreds of left over bumpers and bonnets are fanciful.
VE has been out for 3 years now, with around 7-8 months until it's replacement arrives. Why not release a different looking VE to stimulate the market a bit, when they have access to these parts already???
In case people haven't noticed, large car sales have dived a fair bit in recent years in Aus...

One thing you will quickly notice, as a new member to the forum, is that most internet forums are inherently negative, and loaded with conspiracy theorists on many subjects. Manufacturers always seem to exist to "get them" for some reason...:confused:
This negativity leads to the thought pattern we have been "dumped" with Pontiac sh!t better off crushed at the tip.
As you will see though, a number of actual paying customers like these, and really, that is all that matters right?
