San Francisco based coach-builder SV Motor Company have completely reworked the popular Chevrolet Corvette to create the SV 9 Competizione. Limited to 1,000 examples, the restyled Corvette combines American brawl with Italian flair. It not only looks different but should also perform considerably better than the stock Corvette thanks to its reduced weight and increased engine output.

With its separate chassis and body, the Corvette is one of the few cars built today that is still suitable for custom coach-building. As a result the SV 9 features a completely bespoke body constructed from lightweight carbon fibre. The sharp nose, with built-in splitter is clearly inspired by the recent Italian designs. The tail sports only two taillights instead of the four traditionally found on the Corvette.

The SV 9 Competizione is based on the 'standard' Corvette and as such is fitted with the LS3 version of the all-alloy small-block V8. A custom intake and exhaust are added to lift the power to a commendable 450 bhp. Thanks to the extensive use of carbon fibre for the body, the SV 9 tips the scales at just 1400 kg. Matching the increase performance are the custom cross-drilled 14.1" cross-drilled discs.

Like the stock Corvette Coupe, the SV 9 Competizione features a Targa roof to provide additional access and exposure to the interior. The Italy theme continues in the interior with comfortable Italian leather used throughout. The dashboard is crafted in carbon fibre and sports a beautiful set of custom gauges that would look right at home in any supercar. A GPS navigation system comes as standard.

The first example was revealed late in July of 2009 in downtown San Francisco ahead of the official launch at the Concorso Italiano in August. Customers will have the choice of 25 exterior colours, five interior trims and four wheel designs, so no two of the 1,000 examples will have to look the same. The SV 9 Competizione is expected to be priced at just under $100,000. Whether it will be sold outside of North America is still uncertain.

Not too bad, The bonnet/front end is too fiddly and the thing looks like it's jacked up on 4WD springs! Apart from that - looks interesting.

Normally, I'd look at a car that is US car done up to look Euro - and laugh. So rare to find it done well - and shows when done well, is actually better than the rest. Simply a very very nice looking car.
If it handles and bangs as good as it looks ....
Though I still like the stocker camaro bumblebee job :)

And thinking about it - does anyone know that exact color ?

Well before i read the text i thought it was an alfa 8c but just an ugly version haha

I do like the paint work and colour but the rear is crap imo and too high, front is nice though :)

i personally dont like it, but it interests me all the same....
for example, is the rear hatch an all new peice? or is it just a standard Vette rear hatch with a 'glued on' cover?
