MR SSV - Now its my turn...

hey guys i finally re did my redwalls.. so i thought its time to take some happy snaps of my car and put it on show... i wont run thru the stats as im sure u realised its cammed with my power figure, but currently pushing out 295 rwkw on a stock factory exhuast thanks to Sonny at Marrono's, and sitting on a a pedders suspension set up.. but il be happy to answer any questions for anyone curious :)

future mods im hoping are to finish the exhuast, retune, sunroof and hopefully a twin turbo set up if i decided to not sell the car...

You can still get good results with the standard exhaust even with a cam.

Does it have extractors/high flow cats or all stock ?

Just putting on some ext/cats with the stock catback should see some good gains.

Hey mate! the redwalls are awesome! Definately a good idea mate. Just wondering, i heard getting walls coloured on your tyres makes the tyres unroadworthy because you cut away at the wall rubber making them "weaker" therefore effecting the engineering of the tire... is it legal?

Mr SSV - Love the car mate. Just bought one myself (Phantom Metallic) with the custom red interior like yours. May I ask what Pedders suspension? I had Low Ryder springs on my last car (SV6) and it certainly wasn't anywhere near as low as that so am guessing they've done something a bit different here??

thanks for the feedback guys whether positive or negative... well i have a bit more time today so il go thru a few more things... the interior has been fully retrimed using the ve gts foams.

- for the suspension im using the new pedders coil over set up, the fronts a bit to low i think so il be going back to see Con at pedders grandville. (who i highly recommend to anyone in the sydney area).

- as for cam specs its one of Sonnys grinds so il let him comment if he wishes.

in my opinion you can barely hear the cam its a smallish one and doesnt send the car rocking.. but the factory exhuast is definatly holding it back.. sonny beleives theres a good 25-30 rwkw left to be gained with a new exhaust and a toch up tune.

the over all look i wanted for the car is a nice sleek look... nothing to over the top and blingish... when i bought this car i wanted to make it one that would stand out from the rest :) its getting there!

as for the tyres being possibly ilegal... well i guess, but once i get some decent rubber i doubt id be redwalling them... but might as well look at the rest of the car then lol...

id have to agree about grinding at the tyre wall to do the redwalls isnt really legal id say but who knows... its more of a shaving then grinding... i wouldnt wanna risk with quality rubber..... who knows wat law comes next..... proberly make white/red walls illegal.

i thought about painting the lip of the rim red... but then i think it makes the rim look smaller... i saw it on another car on here...

So with a small cam that is not really noticeable you look like getting around 325 at the wheels when you put an exhaust on.? 435rwhp, thats a big effort for a smallish cam.

its all in the tune and the quality of your mechanic in my opinion.... sonny knows his stuff for anyone who doubts.. its a good street cam,on the smallish side... any cam specs should be put towards sonny.

sorry bearwood i wasnt reacting to what you said either lol... na the exhuast sounded pretty much stock maybe just a touch deeper.. but hard to say as i have a otr.. but its alil more noticable now as Sonny cut out my middle muffler and replaced it with a straight pipe.. as since my car being so low it was touching on certain spots.... sounds good for now thou till i have the dollars for the full system... i did also have the standard hsv headers and cats fitted.

oh yeah i read that post the other day on white walls... i guess it all comes down to the copper u get on the day, ive been pulled over many times and its always a good result (knock on wood) and usually get a "nice car", a thumbs up, or even "Woolworths must pay you well" lol, for when im comming home from work comment... im usually respectful to the cop on the day and in the end of the day if i do get defected for whatever reason i know i have myself my blame due to the choices ive made in modifications to my car.

as they say good looks (the car) come at a cost.

definately next on the list is a sunroof, the exhaust preferably as quite as possible and a touch up tune... and if i do decide to keep it long term, a aps turbo set up.... oh and definatly some decent rubber.. as all my suspension work seems to be going to waste using these half decent rubber.
