Looking at getting a set of 275/40/17 mickey thompson et street radials. But not sure if they will fit under my vx clubsport. I got ssl in the rears with koni shocks. Will they fit?

Or will i need to put standard springs back in for racing? If so will it scrub with them in?

I tryed the other day on my VY Clubby, and with SL's they didnt fit.

Rolled gaurds and standard springs will be needed at least mate. Im guessing you have big rear brakes?

The biggest problem will will find is that the profile of the tyre is to tall and it will rub the rear bar where it meets the panel under compression /load

Yeah i have the VZ R8 Brake package. So 17's are it.

Is that even with the car at standard height mate?

3743R P275/40R17 / 26' diameter ,near same diameter as your stock 17' rubber..but factor in how hard your rear comes down on the launch..recommend rolled guards and the infamous Drag friendly stock FE2, which will aid your 60ft 10 fold imho :)

ps...I did use these for a full year before rolling rear guards on SV8 ....but not recommended if your putting out good rwkw.

I have just fitted some Hossier 275/40/17 on the rear of my ute with SSL springs koni shocks and have the gaurds rolled with some iner gaurd (plastic bit) trimmed out, and they look great.
not taken it for a drive yet, but will tell you when i do and how she goes, but there looks like there is loads of room, but the ute might be different from the sedan

Did it scrub much before you rolled the guards. I should probably just get it done first. Im putting out around 295RKW.

mark is correct I was thinking of when I had 275/40/18 not 17's :( but still as Mark has said rolled guards will make for safe playing

yeah took the ute out last night on a private road, and there was no rubbing at all with 20 psi in the rear.
like i said before they may be some difference in the ute to the sedan.
the rubber is hoosier drag radials 275/40/17 on 17x8 holden VZ wheels 5/120 +48.
there prob is around 10mm ish clearnace on the inside and with the gaurds rolled it is fine.
anyway mate hope this helps

I have got the tyres, raised the car and rolled the guards. Going out to a T & T tonight. Is it a good idea or bad idea to drive to the track with these? Its about a 50km round trip mostly highway??

It will be fine if it isn't raining. Make sure they have pressure in them and don't go around corners fast.

should be fine i drive around on mine most of the time. just pump them up before you leave the track as only 19psi in a 275@ 110kmh going around a corner doesnt give you the safest feeling. just be prepared to pick all the stone out of them aswell when you get home becuase if theres a half decent amount of heat in them they will pick everything up

If your chasing low numbers (sub 12's) with the 275's, it's going to be hard on ssl's. How about some FE2 springs and shocks. It should get you there. If your aiming for a 12 bracket, why not a 235 ET Radial?
