Hey fellas just interested to see if anyone 1 has had a similar problem and what it tunred out to be

When I am traveling along anywhere above walking pace if i turn the steering wheel fairly aggressively either left or right about half a turn I can here a clunk and then when i turn back i hear another clunk if i drye steering it doesnt make any noise and I cant feel it through the steering wheel. also if im at high speed and turning the steering wheel slowly it wont make the noise....

anybody have any ideas.... Im hoping it has something to do with the front struts because i might be raising it a little with new rear springs and quick struts up the front

Check the tightness/torque of the K-Frame to chassis bolts for some unknown reason these work loose on occasions & can cause that noise.
Hope you sort it.

Also check the strut tops are tight, the condition of the radius rod bushes & tie rod ends, etc...

:)I'm guessing this is in a VE? I had a similar clunk at various times in my VE, not just turning, bumps large or small. The clunk would not happen all the time and would not happen 2 bumps in a row. Anyhow, at the 15000km service the dealer fitted what they call "spring isolators". They are rubber pads that sit under the spring, and, not a noise since. The dealer said that some cars clunk and others don't, they fit the isolators if you mention the clunk. Good Luck and cheers.

I have a VZ that may have this same thing, I say may cause my wife has mentioned it a few times but I have not heard it my self. So she may not be crazy after all!!! I may have to check this out.

my guess would be strut top bearings, the bearings have fallen out. common on lowered cars, the fact that you said you a raising it soon wouls suggest to me that it is lowered some what, id be looking there.
