Alot of us are finding that the T56 can be hard to shift at times almost like the shifter hits a stopper before it breaks through to the next gear. Ive come across whats called the Drill Mod that they do in the states which involves drilling out a restrictor found in the braided line between the master and the slave. Not sure if this applies for our cars but heres a guide on how to do it:

Has anyone looked into this mod before?

Just searched for it on ls1gto and apparently this mod is equivalent to fitting a braided clutch line.

this is part of the reason for fitting the braided line

Does anyone know if the same mod will help on the VE's?

When fitting the braided clutch line, is it necessary to have the gearbox removed and the slave out? I had mine off on the weekend, but ran out of time to do the braided line. Does the braided line go after the line coming from the slave cylinder or directly from the slave? I'm not too fussed if I have to leave it for a while, but I have the line sitting round..
I noticed today after changing the slave cylinder with new fluid that the car shifts much easier. I was also having trouble getting the car into first or reverse when stationary, but this problem is also gone. I took the tex apart to see how it was looking after around 20k of use, and although it was a little worn, everything seemed to still be in great condition. :)

Isnt this an "unofficially" recognised gearbox problem with some VE's?
I got mine replaced under warrantee for the same reason's as the op...And after engine mod's were done.

Not sure, i know mine does it but others don't.

With mine if i shift below 6k rpm its fine, anything over 6 it hits a stopper or something and wont go into gear properly. It will do it on 3/5 shifts over 6k.

Mine plainly refused to go into 2,4 or 6 in the end, it felt like something had dropped into the selector's.
Holden never did get back to me or the service manager with what the issue was, they just replaced the box.

Mine is fine in every condition except when thrashing it above 6000.

Did yours refuse to shift all together or just when give it a bit of curry? :)

Started out occasionally happening when inducing indian food, when it did it 4 or 5 times, i thought it may be my shifting style, missing the gate kinda thing.
Then cruising normally,it sometimes wouldnt go into 2nd, took it to Holden, couldnt replicate it, week later 2nd and 4th, took it in, same deal..'bout a forttnight later could'nt get 6th either and 2nd was gone completely.

They then realised i wasnt on drug's, and proceeded to fix it.

I'm pretty sure I've got a TR6060 in my ve clubby (how do I tell?). I've been on the interwebs and it seems lots of corvette owners have problems with that transmission in the cold, which is definitely the case with me. It basically doesn't shift into 2nd in the cold. Normally double clutching is required, or I skip 2nd and goto 3rd (i.e. just after revering out of my driveway).

Is this the same deal the the T56? difficult to shift when cold?

PS: I've already had transmission assembly and clutch replaced once under warranty.

has anyone actually done the drill mod
It seems to be a big thing with the Z boys in the states

I did hear that the restriction does help fast clutch release

It restricks flow when you push the pedel real fast. It also controls fast clutch release. This is part of what will make a clutch burn on a drop. it is still being controled on the release instead of a fast drop

What's the repercussions of a fast drop. Can you do damage
