Good old fashioned service is hard to find and deserves acknowledgement. My VZ Clubbie was not running great, making some funny ticking noises, and when I bought it it had intake mods and a performance exhaust which were removed as I wanted a standard, quiet car (this time). So I was always a bit suss about the tune that was in it too. Having read various recommendations in this forum I decided to go down and see Mitch at WA Perf. I'm very glad I did, as he's an approachable, friendly guy who didn't know me from a bar of soap but took about half an hour to listen to the engine, go for a test drive, diagnose detonation and plug in the laptop and remove 3 deg of ignition timing to control the detonation. We also then discussed, at length, various options going forward, deciding on a full check of the fuel, ignition, exhaust, cooling, etc systems. 2 weeks later the car was dropped off again. Thankfully everything checked out with only a small crack in the coolant bottle needing addressing. Mitch also noticed the exhaust manifold gasket was non-Holden and most likley leaking. We decided to replace it, which was good as it was leaking and many of the bolts were not fully tight. At all stages Mitch explained the options and wasn't pushing his own barrow, letting me make informed decicions and keeping cost in mind. Given the history of the car was unknown to me and the detonation problem we decided a retune was in order. Pretty glad I did as it made 348 rwhp on the dyno with a safe tune (form the original 23 deg ignition timing to a now safer 18 deg) and a very flat torque curve. The car revs smoother and the extra power is very noticeable, feeling like a properly fast car for the first time. So if you like great service and want some knowledge of what's going on under the bonnet I have no hesitation in recommending Mitch and WA Performance. It was a very pleasant and satisfying experience.
