quick run down on my car, ive had the following replaced, rear main seal, manifold sensor o ring and rocker cover gasket. I had the rocker cover done last week and when the guy had a look he said its not the sump gasket as the leak was comming from the top of the block. So if its not the sump then what is it? and if it is the sump how much am i looking at to get it fixed?

Could be a valley gasket. Im not sure about a ls1 but my old mans vs had a leak there and it covered the whole motor with oil.

never really herd of a vally gasket on the ls1's, excuse my ignorance but where is the valley gasket located?

Theres not much else to leak from the top if you have already done the rocker gaskets. A valley gasket on the aussie v8 is the manifold gaskets. There is a plate under the LS1 manifold but it rarely leaks.
If you have already done the rear main I would be looking at the sump or the cam angle sensor. I see you have had work done a GMM. I would see what they have to say.

That plate does leak, from the knock sensor seals

That would be the best thing to do.

Maybe the front crank seal as it makes it look like its leaking from above(with the wind effecting it) as that whats mine turned out to be. I thought it was the sump leaking.

There are holes in the block under the valley plate. This CAN leak under the valley plate o-ring, but I've never seen it happen. It could also be leaking through your oil pressure sensor. Sometimes when these fail the oil presses straight up through the sensor and out the top of the plug.

Mate I feel your pain. Had the same issue with my last car (Boss V8) and it was driving me nuts.

I would reverse out of the driveway and see another small pool of oil on the floor. Makes your heart sink.

Good luck with the investigation.
