Hey all, just purchased a crate 427 7 litre for vy..:) Looking at either going turbo of s/c route. Also ordered a 2 speed glide, with t/brake. Changing rear end also. My goal is to make massive power, yet still be streetable. Also going to hit the track. Will post pics as it progesses. My budget is basically unlimited due to a strike of massive good fortune. Also looking to buy a w427, as I reckon they look awesome.

There has been a couple of supercharged 427's built by forum members. A 427with a 2300 Harrop on it is a real torque monster
Congrats in the good fortune too

Hey mate, sounds great. have you thought about starting with something other than your VY Calais. Now you may have an attachment to it but say if you started with a monaro GTO/GTS or even an LE and keep all the original parts would be a great combo. Less weight better interior etc. If going for a sedan maybe a VY GTS or VX GTS or one of those limited edition VZ HSVs. If you have an unlimited budget i reckon that would be ripper of a car.
just my 2 cents good luck with it. are you building it yourself or getting a workshop to do it for you?

I'm doing something similar with a 427 - mind you, Im doing it the other way around. Already had a LS3 which was cammed/headed/blown and now stroking it.
In speaking with others, this combo is meant to be a torque monster. Before I went to stroke it from 6.2 to 7.0, I pulled 440rwkw.
Personally I'd still stick to S/C FI rather than a turbo setup - the low end torque combo of a blower and a 7.0 block will tear tar at 1500 rpm.
