Hi there,

I was originally looking at VT's & VX's to buy but as each week passes I'm saving more. Does anyone think it's possible to get into a VY SV8 for $13,000? I don't want to hassle people on carsales if it's uncalled for.

Hi

My next door neighbour purchased a mint condition VY SS in silver for $15,000 just over 2 years ago. That might give you an indication.

dont see why not.

just say i'll come look at it for $13k cash.

if they denie you.

its a possible win win situation for you and the seller.

... waving cash under someones nose can be very convincing.
spesh if they have been trying to sell it for awhile.

13 k should be enough.. depending on KMs and condition.. and options.

20k can quite easily buy a VZ SS (with hight KMs, auto and the basic options)

i personally think the VY is a much better looking car than VT/VX shape.
plus the car would also be a few years younger.

just do what im doing, keep waiting and keep saving..
if the car dont feel right, or its not the one you want, then just wait it out..

if you budget is 13-15k, the more you save the more you keep for mods.

i recently changed my budget from 30 to 20 for that reason =)

good luck pal

I've just purchased a Cross8 and was tossing up between selling my '01 Falcon V8 ute and my '03 VYI SV8. I ended up deciding on the Falcon, but I was hesitant I'd even get $12,000 for the SV8 (160,000km, no electrics, etc). I think with a bit of haggling you'd easily get into even a neat VYII for $13K

I have a cammed series II vy sv8 with 19's,very straight, clean with the usual odd stone chip/light scratch here and there and imho I recon i'd be very lucky to get $13k given the used car market atm.

Thanks for the replies. I'm looking at a vx berlina on saturday, looks like the guys spent a heap on mods so that will save me from doing mods. I can still remember the first time I drove my last ss :) wont be too long now. Wombie, is that an offer? :) :)

I got my sII vy sv8 about 12 months ago for $14000 . 100k on the clock , full electrics.. I'd say $13k would be very realistic

Were these all private or auction? They're really good prices! I'm having no luck private. Regarding the vx berlina I'm checking out tomorrow, the guy will not let me near his house and insists he drives it to a servo first. It's close but I feel the engine could get warm enough to hide lifter noise or piston slap?

I would be tempted to get your finances in order and go to the auctions if not for just a look at what's on offer :yup:
