Great road. I haven't driven along there for some years.
First time I drove it was in a '70 3000GT Capri. Good times

Yep, certainly a beautiful road to drive on, there's a good 4 hours worth of driving just in one direction.

I took my car for a run today from dinner plain to bright and back it's a fun road. The only thing to be careful of is 4wds on the wrong side of the road as they swing wide to take corners.

Great video Benny.
I've driven the Great Alpine Road a few times....IMHO it is THE best driving road in Vic....a great experience.
The only problem can be if you get behind a logging truck etc on those twisty bits, it can take a while to get past, & then of course if there are several cars behind the logging truck, who won't make the move, it can take even longer to get past.
I suppose you did eventually get past that 4WD.....can't understand why they don't pull over & let you by....I always do...don't like people sitting up close to me....so I pull over.
Anyway...a great drive.
Cheers, Pickles.

Depends how far you want to drive in a day!
If you're in melbourne, I'd drive to Bairnsdale or Omeo on the first day, then I'd drive the Great Alpine road the next day, & stay at somewhere like Beechworth that night. Then I might drive back to Melb via Glenrowan (we're Ned Kelly "devotees"!), Benalla, Yea, Melb.
Lots of top spots around N.E. Victoria..depends how much time you've got!
Cheers, Pickles.

Thanks Pickles! Turns out I've been meaning to drive this road for ages, just didn't know what it's called ... Gotta put aside a weekend this summer for it

I looked it up and found a good description on Visit Victoria & added the driving route as Great Alpine Road on Spiritedd. (http://www.spiritedd.com/drives/21-great-alpine-road)
