View Full Version : Phillips crystalvision globes
Hi guys, just wondering if anyone here has or has used the phillips crystal vision globes?
I just put a set in the ssv and am massivly dissapointed to the point that I had to get out of the car and check they were still working!!
I've had arctic blues and other narva plus globes in past cars but the Phillips crystal visions are just a joke.
Could I have installed them wrong? Maybe they don't go too well with the projector setup.
Any thoughts or feedback?
What sort of bulbs are they? I have a WL (basically VZ) and the H11 and H9 bulbs seem to be about as efficient as you can get with all the searching I have done. I would not mind stronger high beam performance, but putting the H9s into low beam will not get me stronger high beam performance.
I have used Philips plus bulbs in H4s and in the VQ (H7s) with very good results, using the H7s in driving lights on the bike, much brighter than standard H7s
i have the H7 in the VE as that what the manual said.. Im just a bit surprised that they emit less light than the crappy factory ones..

I have them in my Calais, they work perfectly and are pretty bright as far as I'm concerned, haha. :)

i changed all my lights VE SS to those (blue/white) 4000k phillips bulbs (Projectors, H/B & Fogs) and they are awsome bright as, close to $300 all up
i had them in my vr in the low/hi and hi beam. they put out nice white light but didnt throw the light as far as i expected, on par with standard globes. havnt been bothered to swap the standard globes in the vy as next year when the front gets sprayed ill put in vz projector lights with hid's

It's to do with the "Colour" of light produced by the globe - not the intensity as percieved by the human eye. (The blue r appears brighter)
So a driver percieves a blue'r headlight beam in a street lighted situation as brighter - but just gives all the other drivers the $hits.
To See how your lights really work take it where there are no street lights !
The irony of this all is that the less blue (More yellow) are more efficient in bad situations such as fog WHERE you really need them.
Where as a 8000K colour value globe will look good in a street situation - for the diver only & is totally Shite in a fog senario.
The fun with globes goes on .....
Thanks for the replies.
I had a look at how I installed them to see if I had done something wrong.. with the retainer clip undone I slightly shifted the globe around (whilst on) and noticed that its makes a bit of difference as to the output against my garage wall.
After playing around with them both they seem to be a bit better, maybe the projector setup is a bit sensitive to globe position.

I think so, however I don't think I've had this problem with my projectors. Group buy on HID kits?? Haha.
Ok.. so I have worked out what the problem was...... I put them in upside down..
But to be fair, I couldn't really see the mounting point and used the pic in the manual as a guide which has the aligning tab facing up, not down as required..obviously being a generic book its possible the pic referred to the normal headlight setup....
Eitherway, still thought the globes were average so I replaced them with Narva Blue Visions which are a combo between the arctic blue and the Plus 50... a much brighter/whiter light...
