Hi Guys,
Just bought some 22'' wheels for my ve gts and having issues with the front tyre rubbing against the plate where the spring sits on. The front tyres are a 245/30/22. I dont know why i have this problem as plenty of people out there have 22'' wheels on there gts. Should i be running 25 series. The guys i bought the wheels from told me that the wheels will fit no problem. Can anyone help me out there as it is doing my head in.
Cheers

You can just bend the plate up but with 245/30/22 it should just miss as myself and lots of other guys run that size.
Only 255/30/22 or larger should hit.
What brand are the tyres?

How did you manage to get the wheels without paying for them. Was this a private sale?

Running a 225/30/22 should solve your problem

Usually no issues with size tyre unless the wheel is not the ideal offset.
Have come across this problem before with this size tyre. Just pull some camber off the front and that will give you alot more clearance between the spring saddle and the tyre.
Otherwise if you like the wheels enough to keep them, just buy some coilovers and problem solved :D
Tapping the spring saddle to clear the tyre will do the job, but not reccomended.

They are the G8 wheels and the rim is 8.5''. The offset should be a positive 48 like the originals. These wheels are specifically made for the ve's

i dont really want to get coilovers as i like the mrc and im not a fan of butcher jobs tapping the spring saddle. i think i might just have to settle for the 20's, love the 22''s but shit happens:bawl:. if anyone is interested before i take them back let me know i will sell them at a very good price. They are G8 wheels 22'' x 8.5'' 245/30/22 and 22'' x 9.5'' 265/30/22

Hey mate exact same wheels/tyres on my maloo hado trouble with std suspension the little nipples on the tyre were maybe just nicking first couple days but i had coilovers come at same time and ran the wheels fine untill i had time to put coilovers in. Maybe slightly different camber adjustment to make it sit a little closer????

I had the same issue with my 22x8.5" - 255/30's up front. Gave the spring perch a bit of lovin with the club hammer and fixed it. lol. Got Pedders Xa's now though so heaps of room! Incidently, I now have my 22's for sale too (only due to upgrade, not for fitment issues or anything!)

g8 wheels should fit no problem i think you must be running to much camber.
I think the frt off set is 45 or 42 cant remember, mine are 40 so i can run a fair bit of camber :)

Same issue with mine. was just enough to rub the top of the perch.. just needed a bit of a tap with a hammer.. problem solvered. then took it to pedders for a wheel alignment and camber ajustment
