Would someone who has the VE Walkinshaw scoop mind taking a photo for me looking at the nostrils so I can see the mesh used.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Hey, been wandering through the threads and photos, and the only person that i have seen with the walkinshaw scoop is AussieTone. Looks Tuff!

I remember seeing a seriously hot Ute, Blue, which had custom HSV tinting, walkinshaw (plus power to boot!) been looking for it, but can't find it! I'm 99% sure it was a new VooDoo SS - looked awesome!
will update if I eventually find it!
Edit: As soon as I remembered the colour - found it! Ask 6.2l.club for a pic or two?

Thanks. Yeah I know Tony and have seen his. He used a silver mesh. One is going on my sedan and I'm thinking of using black mesh. Just wanted to see what Walkinshaw actually used

Do you know if yours had 3 bolts in it to hold it down or multiple? And can you post a pic of the back of the bonnet (closest to windscreen) so i can see how the bonnet and scoop meet.
Many, many thanks!!
Oh...and I am specifically talking about the scoop with the wings (not without).

Thanks Tim and Jai
mine has 4 and I think Aussietones did as well
Ok, my wife made a suggestion to me on this tonight. As most will know my theme is orange and black. She suggested I paint the mesh going in the 'nostrils' orange?
I have always been an advocate for people doing whatever they like to their cars. However I am concerned that painting this mesh is going to put the car in a league kind of like the VR with VE bodykit. Know what I mean? Too ricer or Lancer with massive bodykit. I like the idea as does Northy but I'm not convinced

I think you are just going have to paint it and see, worst case you change out the mesh.

I don't think you should paint the mesh orange. IMO I think it would look shit.
What about painted the bulge right up the middle after the scoop in orange, or even the two strips that separate the mesh in orange? Something on that bonnet can be painted orange and would look fantastic. A bit of time in Photoshop would defiantly achieve this!

Do they still do the ones with wings? I prefer the V-scoop without the wings but each to their own. Was there an issue with the wings lifting during the summer heat?

I have to say I wasn't convinced. Maybe a smaller version of the side stripes on the scoop.
They measure 34 gap of 5 and then 4 at present. Maybe 25 to 50%

The other question I have is can people suggest some different types of places I could try to buy some mesh. I dont like the stuff I have been given. Or is it simply something to buy at Autobarn etc

auto one, super crap, repco, all sell mesh, just not orange,
I think the orange mesh in the scoop might help break the front end up as its all black, should look good just do a dummy set up to see before ya bolt it down

Problem is that it is hard to find in OZ, and in the states it's $30 for the sheet and $50 for shipping

Mate, again thanks for this. Could you please do me another favour and measure the length of the opening. Been a couple of hiccups so mine still hasn't gone on but it means I can get the better mesh.

This has got me thinking. How much crap, will get down inside the mesh and then store underneath the scoop????? I know it will take time but bits of small leaves and other crap will get down there.
I was thinking of putting thing perspex behind the mesh.
Or maybe a laminated piece of white perspex with some kind of high quality sticker(auto type) with a mesh design and fitting. dont know just trying to think of something ????
Or am i just thinking to much......

maybe easier just putting the vent holes in the bonnet :)

Could be an idea. But then over time crap would fall on my engine.
Food for thought...
Still need to keep the thinkin cap on.
Dont want to do a half assed job....
Cheers :)

I'm wondering what your opinions are about the Walkinshaw copy scoops.
Will fitting one of them result in reduced the value of the vehicle, or will it attract a different crowd, and make my VE SS ute more attractive to pass on to someone in the future?
I'm thinking that it looks 'cool' in one way, but on the other hand I'm worried it may also be a police magnet, that they target you even more when the car has a 'go-fast kit' on it? Or a car dealer will not trade in the car if it has too many mods..
Appreciate your advise on this, thanks
