Hi Shell,

The immobiliser display: It might have something to do with a fault in the Key? If you have a spare try that one and see if you get the problem. If it persists you could try Holden.

Shuddering on take off and hard breaking: I am guessing the shudder is felt in the rear of the car? or drivers seat?. There has been some mention of rear tailshaft bolts being bent causing similar issues. The other thing to look at might be a warn tailshaft centre bearing. Once they flog out you'll get all kinds of vibration.

You might need to explain the shuddering issue a bit further, such as where it is felt the most, speed etc... is the shudder on take off feel the same as when you hard break... Is your SS an auto or manual?. If its a manual it might be clutch related?.

As for a website dedicated to faults relating to VZ's I have used this site; http://phoenixmechanical.com.au/pages/vz_commodore_faults.html . You could try google'ing your issue..

Hope this helps,

Cheers
Phil

Hey Phil,
cheers for that... the shuddering is from the front, i can also feel if in the steering wheel.. I know I have warpped discs, but its not that... I can also feel the shuddering when im doing a slow turn..

I can feel the shuddering at about 20-30ks... Its really annoying, and embarrassing coz its really loud....

I am no mechanic, but I might say either, engine mount/s, front wheel bearing or hub issue (even loose wheel nuts). When your doing a slow turn, check which direction is worse (left or right hand turns) or the same. This might hopefully narrow down what side of the car the problems on.

If it could be engine mount related I would not be excellerating hard until fixed.

Hopefully some of the others on the forum can also add feedback.

I had a mate with a SS Thunder and he was having problems with his immobiliser. Car wouldn't start, would turn off as he was driving.. Did lots of strange things.

Spent weeks at Holden (Was under warranty) trying to get fixed. They kept saying it was fixed - He'd get it back and it would still stuff up.

Ended up going to tribunal and Holden bought the ute back off him at a good price and gave him a cheaper price on a VE SV6 because they just couldn't fix it.

Hopefully yours won't turn into anything that severe!!!

Cheers

shel on a mates VT it made a very audible noise and you could feel it through the whole car when one of his driveshafts were stuffed. Id never heard one do it before but sure enough I changed it and the noise/feel stopped.

Best take it to a mechanic right way then as it's a bit hard to diagnose loose front wheel nuts via the internet.

Here is a site with most of the common VZ faults but can't see one that could be yours other than something has broken.

It;s good getting advice from guys on this forum i know i have in the past but most of us on here are not mechanic's and couldnt fix it anyway sitting in front of our computers so best to take it in to someone who specilises in commodore's perhaps a forum sponsor in your local area. Just taking advice from a forum can have a disasteress outcome ie: not thinking it's that serious when it is.
Good Luck
