Hi guys and gals this is my first post on here so i hope im posting this in the right place. I have a vx ss 6 speed manual with maflass tune, otr, 1 3/4 4 into 1s, 3.5 inch single exhaust with high flow cats 232/234 cam and springs, 25% under drive pully. I just had it tuned and made 261rwkw is this an average sorta figure or does it seem a bit low.

Cheers Gary...

Yeah that is pretty low for that combo. But it is probably just the dyno unless the tuner is a retard or you have a mechanical issue causing the low figure. In any case the more important thing is how much power did it increase from pre cam. That will give you a better idea of where you stand.

I had a fairly similar setup but had twin 3" exhaust and made 380hp roughly. I wouldn't worry too much about a dyno figure though all dynos vary.

Yes mate that sounds a little low but all in all if it drives hard and you enjoy it dont stress about the dyno figure as they really are just a tuning tool.
Take her to the strip and that will tell you where you at in terms of power::goodjob:
Cheers,
Andy.

i never had it dynod before the cam so i cant compare the tuner said possibly the exhaust could be holding things back and recomended at least twin 2.5s would this be right?

Gary,

I just tuned a auto with a simlar setup today,it turned 287rwkw,in saying that, there could be many variables in why your figure was low,i would check with your installer and tuner,to make sure it all went tog well ,gooddluck

I think the exhaust is fine - a single 3.5" system should outflow a twin 2.5" system.

The figure of 261rwkw is in the ballpark and could be due to a low reading dyno, or very tight strapping - I assume the installation was completed correctly.

The only way to compare would be to try the 1/4 mile, or try another reputable dyno operator and see what eventuates.

cheers

Thanks guys the car does go heaps harder now than it did before the cam and is heaps of fun to drive:) so im thinking it is installed right im hoping to get to the 1/4 mile soon in my only trip there before the cam i ran a 13.04@109mph so ill see how much better i can do.

Just got my VZ back with similar set up VCM-5 CAM 1 3/4 Pacemaker extractors hi flo cat and 3" system. vcm otrcai and tune.
Pre work 194 rwkw after work 262 rwkw and big torque increase.
Earlier dyno ran 215 rwkw before work on 18" rims. now on 19's. Rim diameter does make a difference to the dyno reading.

Hope this helps ease your mind.
Bottom line, if you like the results dont stress the Dyno figures.:)

Hi mate, who did your install and tune? You can pm if you like. The power seems a little low, but as others have said, it could just be the dyno. When I was looking at that cam I was told to expect about 270kw, so your not far off.
