I would use the search function on "cams" and read read read!

I have a 224/228 cam, it is 110 LSa so very lumpy/choppy. I recently put a stall convertor in and it helped.....

If you are comfortable with a decent convertor and intend to run the strip regularly look to a larger cam.... otherwise there are plenty getting good results with 220 cams

without doubt the 224/230 is a very good street/strip cam. you will need a stally. the size is your choice but if you are looking to drag race then i would go at least a 4200. i have used a 3000 with this cam and it was slow and bloody terrible.

Hi wild57, i went with a 3500 stall, as i wanted a good compromise between daily duties and having it launch.... sometimes i wish i went 4000 stall, but was told it would be a lot looser..... the 3500 is a good mix!

Hey Al,

Is your engine still cam only with 243's on it?

Cheers Ash

my opinion is go a bit bigger then you think you should. ive currently got a 216/227 with a 3500rpm stall. Down low the thing is recicuilious, may even have to much power. if i had my time again id go somthing bigger, maybe the 224/230 like or somthing like the 232/234 and a 4000+ stall. my current cam seems to run out of puff up top, im hoping a set of heads will cure that though. also looking at a 4500rpm stall but only because my current one has rooted lock up clutches and has to come out anyways. so do a serch, find what you like, and go a touch bigger lol. good luck mate.

yeah you bet. they are stock as a rock. dont work anywhere near as good as your higgins heads but they are a good little combo.
i suposse everybody has a different take on things.lets not open a can of worms Ash. yes they up the comp slightly and yes they flow a little better than 241s but they are stock. un touched stock factory heads.
