Hi Guys just had a XForce 2.5" catback mild steel fitted standard headers standard cats still but it sounds awesome up untill about 3000rpm then struggles a bit and when WOT it sounds not much diff from when it was stock i also have an OTR and MAFless tune done my car is a VYII SS M6. still a massive difference from stock it sounds very loud but nice i look for reason's to actually drive my car now and when i go through the Harbour tunnel and Eastern Distributer tunnels everyone looks around to see were the loud rumble is coming from. Also is it true that it sounds deeper over time or gets quiter i have heard both rumours??
Thanks guys

Give it a week or so mate, it will change as the mufflers bed/burn in.

on my 63' pontiac, i had a 2.5icnh dual exhaust put in, with only 12inch dogs.

the first week it was so loud and.. tin'y.

but after a week the dogs got abit of build up of sorts of crap, and it sounded alot better.

not too sure on xforce tho. that was just my experence with my old school ponti.

I had the same exhaust fitted to my ute over a year ago, mine seems to have got deeper with age.

It will get louder slightly mate as said once the mufflers and pipes burn in a bit.
Mine did exactly the same. When you fit a set of headers to the front you will gain a much nicer note from the zorst too mate.
Cheers,
Andy.

I remember from my old car, there's more than one type of 2.5" XForce catback!!!! That's why peoples opinions are so different.

ive recently gotten the X Force 3' cat back pipes and it sounds pretty good but i thought it would be alot louder so fingers crossed for it getting a little louder with age.

Mine "farts" alot when breaking which i love the sound of haha just wondering if its a bad thing.

Hi,

I have a recently purchased a stock VX SS manual and have been reading all the ls1 forums trying to decide on a catback exhaust(my budget does'nt cover extractors and cats). Does the X-force drone in the manual? I want a nice note and don't mind a loud exhaust but I don't want the exhaust to drone when cruising at 110-120km/h in 6th. Is the x-force louder than a DiFillipo catback? I have been quoted a reasonable price on a Diffilpo catback and I am thinking that the Diffillipo will give a more traditional V8 sound because the hole between the pipes at the merge is small. I think that some of the systems with larger merges sound more like single systems which is OK if you like that sort of thing, but I am over 40 and grew up with V8s with real dual exhausts.
I had a VTII SS with a monaro CAI and this gave the engine a nice V8 throb on medium throttle. What sort of sound does the OTR intake give ?

All comes down to mufflers (type, size, location) used. If the shop knows anything they'll be able to match the characteristics you describe to them in a finished product.

Mine drones a lot at 60km/h, nothing at 100-110km/h. This is in an A4 with 3.9's in the diff (around 2500RPM off the top of my head). With less revs it may well drone...

And "farting" or crackling on decelleration isn't a bad thing, just the result of a good flowing exhaust.

you live in sydney..
check out sureflow exhausts in the sponser section.

im still undecided on the bolt on cat back or custom.

either way, ive spoken though email and there prices seem pretty fair and a custom to your specification exhaust.

2.5 dual, 3 dual, 3.5 single. 40X stainless or 30X marine grade stainless.. or mildsteel.

so you could get whatever your budget can handle.

*and apprently they pretty much garentee a drone free exhaust.

Do you have high flow cats on yours?

Not yet... Been looking at the ballistics, but with the IM240 scare over here, stock cats are the best bet for a little while yet (i'll sacrifice a bit of power compared to failing a test that costs near on $2K a pop!)

Sounds like a good idea! The drone will go away once you get the cats done.

Damn straight. When i bought mine it had stock HSV headers and cats and twin 2.5" xforce cat back. It was pretty loud and didn't have a bad note actually - sounded pretty beefy of idle, but droned heavily when labouring. Fitted DF headers and ballistic cats, game on, no more drone. Exhaust note hasn't really got any louder, its transformed to a deeper, ballsier note. Im happy with it but the welds on the xforce are cracked so a good enough excuse to get a twin 3" DF cat back.

Cheers

Yeah there's drone at certain revs. When I kick it down a gear it's pretty droany.. I was thinking of going back to a quieter muffler.. If i cammed i definately would..

It's not too bad with stock cats and headers.. Once you upgrade you will definately notice the diff..

this is when i first got them on. HM headers, 2.5 cats and 2.5 catback

Hey all. Is the system being commented on the straight pipe rear or rear resi 2x 2 1/2" system?
Also, anyone gone from the 2 2 1/2" to the 3" system?
Any advantages?
