DO YOU LIKE THE NEW HSV E2

if they fixed up the rear bar with the photochop from one of the threads change the mags to e1 gts/clubby and it will be great looking car otherwise front bar looks pretty tuff and the new tech in it sounds sweet

I am with you on this one, the front end looks overdone but will check it in the flesh before i dump it.

The Clubsport and Senator look okay, although I prefer the look of the previous model. The GTS bodykit looks cheap and nasty.
I do welcome the power increase and addition of launch control etc.

i am likeing it eveytime i see it, but Simons shots do make it look so much better then the ones on the HSV website. dont know why they went with the yellow for the upgrades, always thought HSV was red, not yellow. Oh well. cant wait to see them in the flesh, will grow on me even more and more the more i see it.
would look alright with the driving lights much lower on the front bar, and give the Grange driving lights too... just my thoughts

so as a Poll, I would say yes I do like it

Nidz
09-09-2009, 09:09 PM
YES because I love the new Poison Ivy colour and I love the new wagons and the Maloo looks half decent..

No because I hate the new Senator.. A few other bits I don't like either and who's gonna pay like 3k for a squashed oval dual sound exhaust when you could get a kick arse full stainless system for the same price..

I am still undecided on it. There are aspects of it I really like, but then there are others that I hate.
It keeps growing on me the more I look at it, but I'd like to see it in the flesh before I make a proper judgement on it.

When the E1 was released , I immediately loved it.

swingtan's pics make me think I could just about see myself in either a GTS or R8.

Interesting poll results so far. If you separate the No from the other options, it's a near 50:50 split.

I didn't think the results were than even considering the mainly negative responses. HSV have made a statement with the E2, that's for sure.

theVman
10-09-2009, 08:33 AM
I think the black on the GTS bar is what makes it so gross with the wheels. Colour code the front bar (ala R8 style - why buy a GTS??) and swap to some nicer wheels and it may be ok.

The thing is you shouldnt have to modify something like a HSV to look good.

aedeau
10-09-2009, 08:40 AM
I reckon they need to do something about the clubby wheels. They're worse than the GTS ones!

If you can buy the car, any one of the range and leave it as it was built then and only then can you say your completely happy with the car or you love it as Uncle Tone puts it (best gts by far) he says, give me some of what he is on........ There bloody ugly........

I voted Undecided....E2 looks kindda busy IMO but may be it'll look better it flash, gotta wait and see. Remember when the VE Maloo first came out alot of people didn't like it!

My husband (cholo) says no to it..the only thing he likes is the yellow breaks and flag badge.

XLR8 V8
10-09-2009, 02:10 PM
It has potential. With a few personal adjustments/customising, and definitely a dark paint colour, it could look pretty good.
The stock car is a bit over the top for my liking, but then again I'm not a person who's really into bodykits of any sort. Lowered black Calais-V on some nice wheels would suit me just fine, although a black VE1 Maloo does look great.

last pics by redoctober in the same thread as swingtans photos make the car look unbelievably good IMO. two changes is all it took and yet HSV can't get it right. Why I ask... Why.

love it!!! still room for modification though

agreed.

I think the first thing I would change is to remove the huge LEDs and replace them with smaller less intrusive ones set further back into bumper. On a black car at the moment, the LED housing would be the first thing you see even when they are off..no power required. Also the sharp edge on the center piece where the inset changes direction should be rounded.

Don't like the red with the front bumper section blacked out

I think that is just because of the lighting.. normally you would see the grill there

For me HSV E1 one took the Holden ve ss to another next level as it should. It looked great in any colour and the car was very balanced from front to rear. I havn't seen an angle shot of a E1 yet that doesn't look great.

The E2 has been over worked with far to many individual details especially at the front. Sort of reminds me of a good mate of mine, he has that many gold chains, gold braclets etc when we go out he looks rediculous.:)

I've finally voted. The question is do I like and not do I think it's better than....... The looks are definitely growing on me and me likes the cars, design faults and all. :)

Of the various photoshops, the red one by [Mitch] looks the most convincing. As for the others, they seem to lack something and that something is exactly what the E2 already has.

I'm sure the E2 will make most other cars look bland by comparison. The E1 looks kind of bland. The FPVs would look last century by comparison.

Just ditch the fake vented bonnet - too many bits & pieces in other places - just makes it busy & too US GTO.

Senator, with a manual - noice - no vents.

Anyways, they'll still sell them all and if you choose your timing wisely, you may pick up an absolute screamer of a deal.

December 09 on would be a good time, even better for 09 plated cars in late Jan, Feb & especially March......you just have to be content with floor stock. Note: won't work with the few W427's left in captivity - yet. But give it time.

I reckon many of you wouldn't give a tinkers cuss what E2 looks like if:
a) you were fortunate enough to be in a financial position to buy one; &
b) you got one for a screaming price.

You'd be a little blase about how it looked then let me tell you ! :1peek:

The bonnet is obviously a G8 bonnet, how have they in-filled the two cut-outs at the front to square it off?... for example the Black one in the previous posts has chrome inserts and the white clubby has black inserts..are these metal inserts or plastic?.. how are they fixed into place?

Does this mean the the G8 bonnet fitted with these inserts will fit a standard VE.?

If you put the E2 hsv at a car show last year imo I think 90% of the people that walk past it would of had thought 'whose the dickhead who screwed up the hsv...'

I have just had a very long look at a GTS in White, with the performance pack - big breaks with yellow callipers, yellow HSV center cap, yellow GTS badges, and the wheels painted gloss black. The car is sitting at Slaven Motors in Canberra. I have to say from the side it is one of the best looking cars you will ever see - ever! White definately is the best color for this car.

But from the front and rear it is laughable, there are too many competing angles and designs. Too many themes that might work in isolation, but all together look rediculous.

If I were to purchase one it would be on the basis that I would change the front and rear bumpers - perhaps import front and rear bumpers that have been shown on limited production cars at SEMA in the states.

Absolutely love the new GTS .. my neighbour has one in black and it looks sensational.
What I love about it is that there is no mistaking its a HSV.
It has aggressive styling, boy racer looks that are in your face saying just dont mess with me.

in fact having had a good look at them in the fleah...the styling rip offs are even more obvious
....I now see that the bonnet nostrils are a rip off from BMW (and we all know about the wank daylights...ala Audi)

the whole thing just does not jell....its such a styling mishmash, its laughable
...and thats a pity coz the some of the mech updates are quite good

me thinks HSV should have taken the lead from Holden..... no styling changes but some good mech changes (SIDI etc)

I can't understand why HSV is so hell bent on not looking like a Holden. The VE is a great looking car but HSV thinks that no-one will buy their version if it resembles it. I know people will tell me that it is important for marketing but why is Holden different to other makes? BMW M division makes much more extensive changes to their cars in both body work and mechanicals and yet makes sure the cars look like a tough version of the original. AMG does the same with Mercedes and the RS Audis are the same. Even the new Lexus IS thing (I can't remember the name) keeps a lid on the add ons. People still aspire to these special cars even in the countries where the cheap versions are plentiful. No-one says I don't want a M3 because it looks too similar to the rep-mobile 3 series, so why is it so important for HSV? Are they so ashamed of the Holden base car that they want to pretend they aren't based on the Commodore? Anyway, in my opinion they have succeeded in looking different to the Commodore only in so far as they have created a monstrosity from great looking shape. Sorry to those who have bought them, I am not trying to question your taste and having recently driven one I can say they are superb to drive. But I wish HSV would tone down the styling considerably, at least for one model. Even the Senator is overdone now in my opinion.

SY CAMARO
16-11-2009, 09:46 PM
The Commodore has been given a 'hoon' image by society. IMO, HSV is trying to come across as a car that is about the power while not being a hoon car. They are more about the passion for Holdens.
