Hey guys just wondering if I might have an issue here. Picture shows my driver's seat. Note how the plastic / leather material has lifted away from whatever is underneath. I drive my vehicle daily; once to work, once back home. Each trip can be anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. I'm not a heavy bloke. The other seats in my car which have received regular use have not developed the same problem. Warranty?

Mine is the same dude. Normal wear I'd say.

yeah you should be able to get that sorted out under warranty... iv seen plenty of well used SSV's without that sort of damage, and i wouldnt imagine thats classified as "wear and tear".
Otherwise goto an automotive upholsterer and they might be able to pull it tight or something?

Mine looks exactly the same - I'd assumed it was just the leather stretching/having a bit more 'give' in it over time.

Mine is the same as well. 18000km since feb. I weigh about 80kg....

perforated leather is the worst.... every car ive ever had with it has had the same problem, starts off like that then cracks, then rips through... full leather is much more hardy, but cloth is super tough... that is not too bad what you got there.... its a far way off from replacement. :)

thats why i went with the cloth, still looks as good as it did the day i bought it.

:goodjob:

i like the leather look the most.... but unfortunately the shitty wearing is the price you have to pay.:bawl:

looks like reasonable wear to me. Just the leather is a little stretched from your arse.

Yep, mine is the same also.

When the leather cools (overnight in Canberra) it seems to shrink back a bit.

It still doesnt look very nice though. I was just about to enquire if there was a problem. I am not a heavy person (about 80kg). Maybe it's caused from having a boney A$$?!!..

It would be nice if they upgraded the leather componant of the seat in later models and for earlier vehicles to be fixed under warranty... But I think as others has said it is just wear and tear.

Cheers
Phil

There are leather replacement kits for sale on ebay. looked the goods but I'm unsure on the quality of the material used. Guy says "leather left over from <insert manufacturing process here>".

Usual dodgy looking 10 page seller ad which offers the world. Anybody used this before?

Unfortunately from what I've seen, the leather on the Holdens/Fords 'seem??' to be a bit thinner than some others and stretch a bit more/quicker than the norm. Might not be the issue here, but it's what I've been noticing on the VE at least :(

It has absolutely nothing to do with the thinness of the leather, nor how heavy you are.

Just stop farting.:headbang:

Our late 2010 SSV has done this, back seat has done it also. I mentied it on the first service and was told its the way they are.

Anyone had it replaced/fixed under warranty or is it as the dealer said and we have to put up with it.

A mate of mine has had his replaced twice now under warranty on his 2007 SSV Ute. He just kept going them until they replaced it.

If its any help I have a 2006 VE SSV and not one of the seats looks like yours.... it's done 85,000 kays and I am 110 kg.... so I must have been lucky or cows changed after 2006?

Thanks for the feed back guys, I called the dealer we bought the car from. (country dealer). They put us onto another dealer who just happens to be our local dealer. (different dealer from first service, -long story) They were more than happy to take some photos of the seats and send them off to the area service rep.

Refreshing to see a dealers so helpful (so far). Will let you know how it goes.
Here are the pics of our car.

Back seat has been sat in only a few times at the most. Must be a bad batch of seats.

That second photo of the back seat is really pretty piss poor to be honest, another reason why I stuck with the cloth in this one! If I have problems with this, I'd either get it custom trimmed nicely or not buy a holden again. Citroen c5 interiors are great from photos Ive seen :)

Might as well update this factoid two years later - my drivers' seat still looks exactly the same as that, except that I noticed a couple of weeks ago on the backrest that one of the side bolsters is starting to come away from the backrest itself (ie a few of the stitches have broken). Having said that, I've done 122,000km so...

I can't believe how many people accept the amount of wear on their seats!

I have 3 cars with leather
1. Calais VTII, has a custom slate "blackman and sons" interior, so I'd expect it to be good, looks nothing but a bit dirty after 140K

2. Monaro with 37K - still tight and brand new

and the killer

3. VZ Adventra with 260K and the seats have one small gouge through the colour (i'd guess a mobile phone) and only slight feathering on the seam from getting in and out (I am short so I glide across the bollard frequently.

I keep them cleaned and conditioned.

No other looseness etc...
